I wanted to do a vehicles only run, and I think it would be possible if I were super strict about it, but spaghetti factory has been the way to go up until completing phase 3 where I almost have mk3 miners unlocked and am just barely ready to dismantle all of my infrastructure and build a proper depot mall that has space for all of the things I need to make
If I understand this correctly, I am picturing a truck delivering ingots to a constructor from a smelter 3 foundations away
yeah vehicle only needs some definition .. because you can never build without belts entirely, even if only short ones. so vehicle instead of what, long belts? trains/drones? as many belts as possible? vehicles inside a single factory seems super crazy π

carts run without fuel, but only carry a single stack of material, and you really need them to be on foundations
i did a no train playthrough back when update 7 was released. it is doable, but back then the vehicles just flaked on me a lot

@fiery pewter @oblique aspen @alpine basalt so like smallest, most efficient option for each item. if a factory cart is more reasonable than a truck and consumes less fuel (they don't consume any, but capacity is the issue there and I have to test whether or not putting multiple carts on a small loop has enough throughput), then factory cart is the way to go. I also still haven't decided whether or not I want 2x truck stations per machine or 2x truck stations per production line (i.e. station to constructor to station vs station to all of the steel smelters to station, though I'm almost leaning towards station to machine to station now that I've thought about it again)

you might want to check to see if you need to clean the vents/fans in the laptop
dont know but we do the updates and i tried to clean up the drive but it doesnt go down only up like i tried to clean it once and it said there was less space available
it kinda sounds like the laptop is throttling because of heat
a clean computer is a happy computer :3 (also thermal paste is only supposed to last 2 to 3 years)

either you're pumping more water than you need, or the rest of the production line isn't receiving the resources it needs. either way (due to fluid mechanics) you're better off pumping more water than less

uhhh idk. they were all running.. idk what could be not 100%. I hadnt checked that yet. just shut everything down, am restarting pumps letting them fill 100% then restarting generators. have a battery bank so no harm no foul

I use web tools to inform my production lines and migrate that information over to modeler to fit it to my use case. they're both tremendously powerful and neither should be slept on. especially since sometimes web tools are more than enough up until you want to use all of the resources xwx

I don't think modeler slows anyone down. I think it's a whiteboard capable of accommodating the most complex of any pioneers desires, so long as they know how to use it. it's a tool, immensely powerful to some and useless to others

I'm begging and praying for an expansion that lets us build a space ship on the preexisting platform that would allow us to travel to other planets or even other star systems :c
It would make sense that the starship is part of an exendet addon journey plan becouse they can make the addons litary like expand the story from the safe the day program.
Exampel the starship is only 1 part of the full program let say they make satisfactory to a life service game mean no new satisfactory game only this one and it would expandet endless
there's a solid chance they'd come to a point where it's more reasonable to make SF2 than add all of this on, but I'll be happy either way
They also can add some mmorpg aspeckt like the comjunity has to send parts to reach global mission goals let say like 100 million project part and if they reach the goal they become fiscit credits with that coin they can buy cosmetic packs. Cosmetic skin pack some are only buyable with the fiscit credit coin and some are buyable with real money.
And yes i know many dont like a ingame shop but cosmethik skins where are no buffs or boost inside are realy ok

I had a mega factory file that got to turbo motors and didn't have framerate issues outside of the main bus room
But in hindsight it did outsource rubber/plastic specifically and I didn't get around to nuclear pasta before I got distracted, and those two are probably the biggest culprits lol
the real pipe problem is education. They are hard to get working when you dont know what you are doing as all your information is inferred and when you make one change it takes 20-30minutes to see the results of taht change
because the complications of different planet types could introduce exciting problems to be solved for both the devs and the pioneers
name a planet type that doesn't introduce a mechanic that can't be implemented with a biome on the current planet
the double negative obfuscates the point of your message, but lava planet with crude oil oceans and no bodies of water
the pipes. is produce 4x600 fuel. pipe mk2. after production i send the fuel 4m deeper to the generators. i testet pump after production, dont work. in the middle, dont work. so what do i wrong if you think iam the problem?

counterpoint: the atmosphere could only have so much oxygen and hydrogen at any given moment. once depleted, the atmosphere around it would have to displace it. therefore, in order to gain infinite resources, you'd have to create such a quantity of machines that it expands far past the amount of space you're allowed to build them in, and is therefore impossible
that includes spacing them out as such that there's enough atmosphere to feed any of them
is similar argument towards wind power and css won't implement wind power (also, this is how the wind power mod works)
but wind is inexhaustible. oxygen and hydrogen are not

I will add that in order to prevent infinite water (which is kind of a thing already as long as you don't run out of space for extra water extractors) the radius would have to be something reminiscent of some average of the distance between iron nodes, and if there's any crossover between atmospheric condenser radiuses, they either don't work, or the volume of atmosphere they condense from would have to be depleted by a ratio of the crossover. also, if it's the "cold metal creates condensation that drips into a tank" technology, it would be kind of slow anyway, which would also help with the infinite water problem

Probably fine with belts, but looks better with trains IMO.
a bit of both. I think 2 or 3 is semi reasonable, plus atmospheric pressure drops at higher altitudes which could prevent stacking. so they can't overlap, and have to be placed close to the ground. I like the single condenser idea but I feel like realistically something that large would draw so much from the atmosphere around it that drones falling out of the sky would be inevitable

Yes. You can have one item type per car.
And you could use multiple trains, so you do not need a monster-train.
Just build rails like they do in the real world, with two parallel rails. One goes there, the other comes back.

Yeah. If your factories are all running and you are consuming 20 % of your current power production or less, you could handle the x5 multiplier.

it's annoying there is actually little little nitrogen gas in the map i cant even consume all the oil in the blue crater to make rocket fuel in the most efficient way cause of that
there's way more nitrogen than needed
3.5 full pipes iirc
300 per, so 3000 = 5 full pipes
ok im making power in the blue crater where we have a total of 2700 crude next to the water. assuming we use heavy oil residue -> diluted fuel -> nitro rocket fuel we make 10800 rocket fuel with 5400 nitrogen gas (9 pipes) and the 3 nitrogen gas wells near the blue crater have a total of 6000 nitrogen gas leaving us with 1 extra pipe so yeah it's possible
sounds like it's time to use different recipes or run a pipe from another biome then 
im just using 300 of that crude lol and it's a raw 77GW so the total power output would be 693GW but now i wonder if you wont have enough nitrogen gas for stuff like cooling systems and fused modular frames cause 6000 is half of the world's supply
if the devs would just do the right thing and remove rocket fuel from the game we wouldn't have problems like that
a realistic approach is just to go to the well with pure nodes take a pipe of nitrogen gas from 2 extractors and combine it with 300 crude and make another 77GW at a time
its a very convenient setup cause its a small facility to make the rocket fuel 10 refineries and 16 blenders total and then you take the output and feed to 288 generators and make your 77GW and scale your power easily
yeah nitrogen is the easiest thing you'll ever use a long distance pipe for if you need more
Is there any better feeling than a stable power grid which is clearly and far above max consumption? π

you also need 400 coal and 800 sulfur for that setup but those are basically free for this setup

i have roughly 50GW consumed and 150GW produced but im still scaling my factories
im just making basic resources for now so consumption is really low when you start manufacturing advanced parts yeah and im also not overclocking just building more machines
now its time for a 3200 plastic/min and 3200 rubber/min factory using like all the oil in the west coast xd

I always did it in rows of 12-16, cant remember right now, but they would split down the middle with one line of coal going to a row, and they would be raised by like 4 meters, or one wall, and have water going down the same path but on the ground

I think a lot of the issues people have with ai arenβt necessarily just from ai itself, like boiling lakes and driving electricity bills up and stealing intellectual property, yeah, it does that, but the real issue is how unprotected those things were such that ai could come in and exploit them

Will there be a Steam achievement added for beating the game with a certain space elevator multiplier? Of course recipe parts and power consumption should be at 1x or above. It would also be nice if the various settings can give you a final score. Each time you beat the game, your personal score goes up by the final score. There should be an online leaderboard for personal scores.

and if you want trucks, use them. Plan factory locations and paths around them
but if you haven't finished all the phases yet it'll be a bit of a waste of time to put that much work into just the tutorial

They aren't a challenge
you have infinite resources and time, and the sloppiest most stuttering factories will finish that along with a few long belts across the landscape
basically just there to teach you the basics to a sandbox mode
either
a) you'll finish the phases and then be finished with the game
or
b) you'll unlock everythign and do your own sand box projects
either way none of your previous factories will be useful for anything but building parts for your more thought out projects planned together
this game is much more like minecraft than other automation games I've seen

the point of the phases aren't a challenge to complete them, the challenge comes from learning the mechanics and tactics to learn how thigns work and how to manage them. But that's very tutorial
if you care about your factories not being a mess in any case. You can also choose to learn almost nothing and finish the phases

Each milestone drips you new little things to think about in design and you don't have any restrictions on time or resources. And your needs change every tier and phase that previous factories really don't mesh.
plus future proofing is basically a fools game so it's not like you can realistically make an overall final plan as you're going up the tiers and make every part of the system work flawlessly
realistically you need acess to every tech, option and a steady stream of all parts
this is true for deeply enfranchised players, but for the overwhelming majority of people the elevator stages are the main progression
hell i have 1k hours in satisfactory and i usually dont play saves much past finishing the elevator

I'd still disagree with "sandbox game" as a fundamental definition of the game. It's certainly sandbox-adjacent, and if you continue playing beyond the game-given goals (milestones, Elevator deliveries) then it becomes a pure sandbox
But the game also undeniably has literally hundreds of hours of explicit, game-given goals to achieve
And it's not a "waste" if someone decides they're done after finishing those

You can finally fully automate SAM Fluctuators once you have the Manufacturer (which is in phase 4)
