Do you think cast screws is worth using over default screw recipe if I'm tier 3 and don't have any other relevant alts?

the tools tend to put out odd numbers, they tend ot workk the wrong way around eg how many items vs how much you can extract from a node
so i just max a node.....
but i also build in a scalable method as well which means i can change / replace parts of facotries

and also you can just demolish and remake it

The seeds only affect resource node positions types, not position mb, if you have the randomizer on
all players having the same map makes sf good imo

1.2 has seed for random nodes which does indeed shake things up a bit
from what i can see being able to discuss the game with exact coordinates and measurements adds a layer of depth to the conversations
and every old player knows the map by heart
it also results in the copy / pasta tutorial problem as well

Newbie power question, but if I (for example) have a constructor that can produce 30 ItemX per minute and I'm only inputting enough resources for it to produce 25 ItemX per minute, is it using less or the same amount of power?
while processing it uses its full power, when idle it uses its idle power
suggest you unlock overclocking and underclock the machine
also other suggestion, in early game all recipies have nothing "odd" eg all unmbers add to equal numbers if done correctly
If I want 45 ItemX per minute and a constructor only produces 30 per minute, is it always more power-efficient to simply build two constructors and underclock them both than to overclock one?

I had a really neat idea that I'd hope could make it into satisfactory. Wouldn't it be neat to attach a boombox to vehicles in games and they play in proximity. You'd be able to set up lines that had tunes playing all around the map and an audio cue for finding your own vehicle if out exploring and get turned around. I wish there was a suggestions area.

The game is about factories and optimisation, the same could be said for a lot of things you unlock
It's like when you unlock foundations for the first time and have to redo your factory from a spaghetti mess into something that uses them

Definitely didn't skip small factories and instantly go into a mega factory for basic resources (4k iron /min, 4k steel/ min, 750 copper/min 1600 concrete/min)
And it's definitely not caused me a single issue
i did this then got burned out, also because it was in sf+... then restarted my whole save like 200 hours in π
I somehow turned 1800 oil into only 15 GW of fuel power
But in fairness I didn't have HOR and Diluted fuel recipes when I built it so
genuinely how do people make mega factories? i have attempted only on paper and it nearly gave me a stroke

its ever so slightly less iron efficient than the standard recipe but saves a lot on energy consumption and the size of ur production lines early game

well it's that or steel cast plate which seems kinda mid
huge output increase for a little bit of coal, especially if you use solid steel ingots
or oil if you use Coke steel but it doesn't sound like you're at that point yet

well base plate is 3 iron ingots for 2 plates
this is 2 ingots for 3 plates
and the 2 ingots can be 1 iron ingot + 2/3 iron ore 2/3 coal if you use Solid Steel
it's it's a pretty big boost on productivity
if you're not wanting to build near coal though of course that makes the recipe less good
All recipes are great if you use them for their purpose π

place beam from corner to corner, snap foundation to beam
from each end
the issue i have with that is z-fighting
concrete and asphalt foundations have it much less

you can use the sloped corners and clip foundation in from underside
or use pillars to freeform place the beam 1 pixel below or above then snap foundations to it for no z-fighting
prob will take a few tries tho

there's at least one mod to help with z fighting, you can also try the pillar trick to push the foundation slightly lower or higher so z fighting doesn't happen

serious answer tho: literally anything from the main tiers, there's maybe like 2 or 3 things that aren't worth it to automate, when it comes to MAM, you might find yourself not wanting to automate Fabric until way later

if you're asking what you should have in a container to grab,
Iron Plates, Iron Rods, Concrete, your conveyor belt ingredient (if you're in phase 2, that'd be Encased Industrial Beams), cable, wire etc.

No I have one water extractor connected to pipe systems so when I add the pump to the pipe from the water extractor it causes the flow in the other pipe systems to be pushed backwards (at least thatβs whatβs the game shows )

No I mean like before you place it down you know how thereβs those blue rings on your pipes indicating where the flow would go if it was placed down itβs showing me at the pipe intersection itβs going to force the water to go backwards
if the flow indicator on the pump placement is going in the wrong direction, that means the pump is facing the wrong way

But they cut down on quite a few components to get their "unique" things done (like filtering or load-balancing multiple items without needing to have individual splitters and mergers for each individual item)

Think this is mostly it though I wouldn't call it "hate". Most things you'd use a non-stupid splitter for in a normal factory you can do with the smart splitter
The throughput is too high, they're too easy to expand, and the only downside is the space they occupy
So long as you have enough space, the only downside of not using Prog Splitters is having more objects in the game (visual preferences aside, ofc)
I definitely used prog splitters when I was still making malls pre-depot
I hate when I stop playing for more than few months and have to get back and remember all the stuff im gonna leave a note on the map last time im do this

Making a mall is when I realized Prog Splitter had a max amount of filters they can handle 
yeah I mostly used them just to kick stuff to a certain aisle instead of just doing one huge loop
they weren't ever a requirement to make the mall work but it let me filter stuff from the intake easily
I just wanted to separate the only sushi belt feeding the mall into 3 belts each carrying items to one wing of the mall... But we can't do that with just one Splitter (even though the outputs are enough, the filters aren't)
the warehouse in my current run has 48 train stations, no smart / programmer splitters needed. π
or like now I guess I'd have a prog splitter on my dump storage to takes all the collectibles and biomass stuff where it should go

and that could definitely be a series of smart splitters, but it's a good use case for "send a few items in each direction" at least
the outer loop is 101x101 foundations, 12 stations on each side.
then there are some specialty stations outside the loop for being called to project sites, like one has a car for each belting material, one has cars for common building materials (motors/rotors/stators/modular frames/etc), then of course, I have a project train that has multiple containers around the warehouse exporting to it so when I math out the material for a build, I can just run around and dump all the parts and they'll get shipped to the train for sending to the job site.
The top layer of this thing #screenshots message was a mall. I wound up using 3 multi-purpose train stations for bringing items in and all those drones on the roof for smaller item count stuff

where you can control exactly how many ppm goes out each side, even if it just lets you choose between belt speeds that would also be cool
Evenly loading and unloading is key to keep it at full efficiency
like, center lane is a mark 4 belt, left is a mark 3, and right is a mk 1

All of my trains are set up like so, it works great even when there are lots of them all next to each sharing exits and entry points, given enough headroom
