As mentioned, always good to keep a couple of coal gens running for start-up power.
I usually build out my power setup as planned'ish. Then use existing power to start up a single oil source. Then a couple of refineries to make fuel. Then power up fuel gens NOT exceeding the bit of fuel I'm making.
Then I have enough power to add more and doublle the amount of active gens. Then once you have 80 gens running (in your case), you'll have enough power to rune the whole thing.

I am gonna use a train for the resource input, so I gotta set rails up

# zealous urchin bruh if ure gonna dodge the question just say ure not gonna answer lol

I wasn't dodging the question, I was expecting a follow up that would allow me to continue the conversation. Ig this is that?

Anyway, I was thinking the same thing as with every other recipe in that mod - making something that's less convenient to use than default but more resource efficient (or at least when it comes to the resources that actually matter, not iron or w/e). Bolted Singularity Cell makes 20% more cells for the same Nuclear Pasta and Dark Matter Crystal cost as default, in exchange for the other 2 items being more annoying to make than just plates and concrete

The reason for the screws and the name is that both vanilla bolted recipes are utter trash and I wanted to make something that uses screws and is actually useful sometimes

Mega factory = 10k items a minute
Giga factory = 100k items a minute
Tera factory = 1 million items a minute
Satis Factory = 10 million items a minute
Once I pass 20 million a minute I will get to name that one officially too. (Items account for every stage combined)

bitter lodge

you can't make 10 million a minute?

grave burrow

I set the 10 million a minute last year

grave burrow

It really only can be done in vanilla during Ficsmas so each year I try to beat the previous years record. Though the last few years its just keeps setting new world records. The 16 million a minute is gifts and blue ornament production. The save is 425mb so far.

hard ivy
grave burrow

Last yeah it took 8 months of planning and tests just to reach 10 million a minute and just barely made it. This year I was able to reach 10 million in 12hrs since the devs have worked some kind of black magic in optimizing things even further still

round crown
dense violet

and that's an option. But iron+coal is just so common, I would basically never design a system that uses iron pipes

#

Like I think iron is a trash resource to be used like water - but Iron pipes is too much for me. Too little output

silk ocean
#

Oh... it's because a train seems to have failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of another on the downslope from Red Forest...

dense violet
#

and iron is more common than copper so makes factory locations MUCH more flexible

#

Copper Alloy? Effectively converts Iron to Copper. Great trade

round crown
#

@dense violet also what is the best way to jump start this factory? Im not going to have enough power for these refiners

dense violet

just charge it up with what you've got going.

One Coal-Powered Generator produces...

dense violet
umbral dagger
#

I kept getting blow outs and tried flushing the system out, now I can't water back in the line at all

whole drum
#

Each water extractor produces 120/m
Each coal gen needs 45/m of water
Water pipes have a max throughput rate of 300/m

So 8 x 45 = 360 water needed, 3 extractors

The trick is that you can't put all 3 extractors into the same pipe from one end, because you lose 60/m of flow rate. The easy way around this is to put 1 on each end and connect 1 in the middle.

#

Since your water extractors will usually be at a lower elevation than your coal gens, you may need to use water pumps to provide enough headlift (max flow height) for your water to reach them.

silk ocean
#

Supposedly 10m right? I've had to use a pump for like 2m xD

umbral dagger

I've been tempted to do a total factory wipe. All the machinery, but keeping the foundations etc. Cause everything is a mess, and knowing what I know now i can make it look better. I've thought about starting a new game, but I'd like to keep all the things I've researched so far.

can i get the full 300 oil per min from 1 oil extractor with a mk 1 pipe? or will there be throughput issues since the pipe will be full

I don't sink the over flow which stalls most of hte factory - keeps power consumption low

it will eventualy split it evenly yes

which thats fine cuase its filling as im making it

only thing is this bare min cause this would be at 100% efficientcy

its a 270 belt of iron going into 9 constructors to make 180 iron plates per min

if you're having trouble filling them all because they're all running then you can turn off a couple of them to let things fill

#

then turn back on when saturated

what would be the best way to split 270 ore into 9 constructors

the math is easy for that one if you want to load balance

but i'd probably just manifold it

Time to build it will be very long and inefficent but iv spend 27h on this save already and i only have steel production. Also to mention i would need to upgrade the belts with eatch tier which would also take a lot of time. So any other ideas or will i just spend 50h before actually starting to play the game?

99% of people who complain about fake frames wouldn't know which is which if a real frame and an AI frame were side by side

silk rose
sterile blade
# zealous urchin tf are even fake frames and ai frames

FrameGeneration, aka FrameGen, SlopFrames or low-cost-Frames or MIC-Frames (Made-In-China) are additional frames made by "guessing" what should be between 2 actually rendered frames, bringing up the total framerate with... Pretty divisive results xD

silk ocean
sterile blade
#

"Guessing" a frame is quicker and takes less resources than actually rendering a frame, but it's also less accurate

ivory condor
#

because you see the thing about frame gen you absolutely need to have a good frame rate to have a decent example, aka at least 60 fps to start with is what i would always recommend

shy mulch
gray hill
#

Just a quick question, I've got all my pipes on the same level does that mean I dont need pumps?

shy mulch
#

Pumps are only for verticality

ivory condor
#

but then you have these ai slop games aka monster hunter wilds, that requires 1080p framegen just for 60 fps๐Ÿคฎ

silk rose
ivory condor
#

and this inlines why framegen is so bad, not that its a bad idea, but that game devs are now using to try put it into place of actual real performance, which fake frames aka ai slop frames isnt, it adds latency and lag and if your frame rate is slow enough you'll see alot of artifacts to, because the ai is only guessing at what the frames are and it gets alot of information wrong

sterile blade
ivory condor
#

monster hunter wilds is a good example of why framegen can be so bad indeed unfortunately

zealous urchin

RF is good

ivory condor

the simpler part infact does it some ways make it superior to nuclear power, dont even have to deal with any byproducts like nuclear waste either, making it even simpler on that front to, so only need one plant for the rocket fuel and thats it for the main production step

ivory condor
# zealous urchin and nitrogen use

It does take slightly more nitrogen, aka 2.7k vs 3.3k, but considering how easy the production lines are and how much less you have to deal with overall once its all setup, thats a easy trade off to make imo

#

600 more nitrogen, only having to make one rocket production plant, the only other downside is having to use the entire spiral coast oil supply, but you should be prepared for that kind of trade of if your going endgame RF power

zealous urchin
ivory condor
#

also 8400 RF for 3450 oil, is still crazy how good those numbers are

#

thats some insane efficiency, aka RF is really too good imo and should be nerfed, its way to strong for a fuel power

naive lynx
#

and overkill is good

#

means i can go to nuclear later

ivory condor
#

idk you dont have to i just throw my save files around without a care in the world

Sloops are too alluring, that alien poer augmentor is too good to have as well.

ivory condor

there is a reason why we are given only a limited amount of sloops, literal god tier items

sloops are in many ways far more valuable than the spheres, because of the many applications, with both power enhancing and item replication,

@ivory condor does underclocking reduce power usage lineary?

ivory condor
silk ocean

Inversely exponential isn't it?

zealous urchin

seral always played zerg what

silk ocean

Almost linear xD

ivory condor
silk ocean
#

Me too, I definitely thought it was more exponential

ivory condor
#

yeah i did to

#

its slightly nonlinear but not exactly exponential either

silk ocean
#

Yea

#

Definitely surprised by that

zealous urchin
#

if it was inversly exponential it would be like those infinately stacking gears in which after all time in universe passes u have stored so much energy ucould make another big bang

vague burrow

I just learned the importance of throttling belts going into machines in a manifold setup. So much time wasted.

silk ocean
#

They should still all fill up eventually

zealous urchin
#

well, when they are at 1% they will fill up faster

vague burrow
#

Yes, but it can take such a long time. It is incredibly faster to get all the machines to be green if you have a the slowest possible belts going off each splitter into the machines.

silk ocean
#

It's a technique yea

vague burrow
#

Especially when you have 960 aluminum scrap going into a single manifold. You're going to wait a long time.

fill them up manually

vague burrow

Yes, you could always prime them by filling them up, yes.

zealous urchin

gotta manualy feed all the electronics with quirkwire

vague burrow
#

It depends on the size of the stack. If it's a huge stack, it can take forever for the manifold to fill.
