How to make card design dependent on card state?

I would like the front of my card to show a field only when in the learning and relearning phases, but not normally. How would I go about this?

You can't do this. Card state is not accessible to the template.

The closest you can get is a hint field (search the manual). Essentially, a spoilered field you can choose to manually reveal.
