#Importing a duplicate deck

Hello!
I have the Kaishi 1.5k deck and am 1/3 through it, I am now trying to import the Matt V Japan Kaishi deck. His deck uses audio cards, so audio on the front, conceptual definition on the back.

I think the issue is that the cards have the same id when I try to import them. Im not seeing any import settings that I can change to avoid this, and I cant change his to be a text file as I need the audio of the deck and it breaks the formatting if I do that.

The only solution ive come up with is to import it under a new user. I want to switch over to studying the audio deck, and then come back to the full deck later on.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I'm not familiar with these decks but I bet they use the same data (sounds, images, text), but with a different card template.

If you don't know what card templates are, just google it and you'll get a gazillion posts explaining it (plus the manual).

I followed the guide I found, It had me import to a new user, then export as a txt instead of anki, then import again. That breaks it though.

Maybe I need to be rebuilding the card format and connecting the fields— hmm, I'll try again.

Matt probably took the Anki deck, then modified it— so different sounds, definition, and card structure but still probably same card IDs

I dont know that I want to do the audio based one, I want to try it out.
Also they serve a different purpose— one is listening practice to avoid subvocalization, the other is more reading focused.

Neither approach seems to work— I dont understand why it's so hard to import a "duplicate" card 🫠
