Hi everyone, just had a question about the learning and relearning steps for FSRS. How do people deal with the learning steps currently? I'm currently letting FSRS decide the learning steps but not sure if that's best, because currently i'll go to sleep with cards due later at night. Is there a way to make a time cutoff where i want to do every card before 10pm? Or do others have better solutions regarding FSRS and learning steps and stuff. Thank you so much for any help!!

Unless I'm misunderstanding and you want to just make intervals shorter

0 means that cards will always wait exactly as much as the number above the answer button said. If it's 5 hours - cards will always wait 5 hours
You can set it to 999, then if you don't have any other cards, learning cards will always be shown
Though setting it to 999 can kind of defeat the whole point of having <1d intervals

Oh yup I was just wondering if it was better for FSRS to keep it at 0 or if I should change it. I was also wondering if day start at 10pm meant day ends at 10pm as well, because when I set it to 10pm my reviews dropped from 500 to 37

Is there a way to make the day start before midnight? Ideally I want to have my last review completed before 10pm so any learning or relearning steps should cap out at giving me a card at 10pm

Yeah fair interesting, do you know how others solve this problem? Is it better to maybe set the learn ahead to 999 at the end of the day so i can review everything, or just let it be and do the cards tomorrow?

Do you do your cards in the morning or in the evening? More precisely, how many hours are there between when you start doing cards and midnight, on average?

Both, I do them sporadically throughout the day
It’s just a bit annoying when there are cards I do at like 7pm and they’ll be seen next in 5 hours when I’m asleep

I was just trying to think of a good choice of "Learn ahead limit". Idk, set it to 120 (2 hours).
And "Next day starts at" to 0
So if a card's interval is less than 2 hours, it will be shown once you have no review cards and no new cards

That makes sense though -- because it moved all of the cards due between 10pm and midnight to tomorrow.
