Hey devs, I hope you are all doing well today.
I am reaching out with somewhat of a strange request, a while ago we got a Kindle for our son so he can read and play games but not have complete internet access like an ipad. I have been a longtime fan of this game so I downloaded it for him and he loves it so much. He plays on Sandbox or Easy and has a blast just building and then blowing his creations up. Recently we have been encountering a bug though whenever he tries to log in. While the game is loading we get the message "Sorry, a major issue has occured (1.12.65az)" with the options of ignoring, closing the game or closing and reporting, whenever we try to ignore the bug it prevents us from opening up any of our cities. Whenever we do try we also see the message "Error java.lang Null Point Exception Attempt" I was wondering if this could be looked into and potentially fixed, I feel like I have tried everything and am out of optiond, thank you

Hey, Im glad your son loves the game. Actually no clue what that issue is about, you can try turning off plugins and seeing if that helps. Ill try asking around to see if I can get a straight answer for you soon.

TheoTown files are located under such directories:

  • Windows: C:\Users(insert username)\TheoTown or %USERPROFILE%\TheoTown
  • Linux: ~/TheoTown
  • MacOS: /user/TheoTown
  • Android: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/info.flowersoft.theotown.theotown/files
    By default you should be in /storage/emulated/0/. Uninstalling the game on Android will delete all files, unless you decide to keep the files when prompted by uninstaller. (android 11 onwards restricts access to external storage for apps, so if the files cannot be accessed this way, opt for the in-build manager explained below)
  • ios: Search "TheoTown" in the file manager app

If you cannot access game files through these directories, game has an in-built file manager for mobile devices which is accessible from the region view menu.

You can find your plugin, music, region and city files there as well as logs for debugging purposes.

I believe the files of the cities themselves were deleted when I uninstalled the game (I asked my son and since every city turns into a zombie filled crater he wasn't upset) but let me check in game

I just looked through system settings, I couldn't find anything restricting access but just in case I redownloaded the app

upon rebooting the game it asks if I want theotown to have access to files and media and I hit yes
