City vs Region

I know everyone plays differently but I'm asking generally

I played the game years ago, just did one city (the default one) until I reached the moon

But was so crowded and ran out of space.

Every city starts from zero and from year 2000 and then grows

How should I coordinate them all and play the region?

Could I consider a capital city that grows more? A maritime city for the port? A city for a military base or something?

Or should I make the whole region a single city to play?

On your local City and Region, you have more freedom to create any scenario for your building style lay out. Because of course you space is so big and everything is for you to use it

I can't dedicate a city of the region to be something because as it gets unlocked it will start from level 0

Last time I just did the first city to the moon and I found out about that, i couldn't expand my city but I had to start over in the next city

That makes sense as in some cases it's a new city nearby, but sometimes it's the city just expanding

How about creating an industrial (polluted) city, all industrial zones

Would it take demand from other cities if connected with highways or something?

Can I make a power supply city (tile) to save space in other cities?

Otherwise I'll have to make it just a big region with one city?

Yes you can make a city for power a d import it but it has to be in the same game mode.

I don't play sandbox at all

How about a port? A military base? An all industrial one?

Would they work like the power one?

First point is right, second point also right, and last point i recomend you to make another Region(super big Region) and unite all of seperate line/border into one big city. So you can make expanded city scenario in one game page

Not really. You can only import water, energy, waste disposal and funeral services

If the game mode is not sandbox, i think you can export and import energy, water, waste disposal, and crematorium to other city to save some space and time to build that building

For demand thing(residential, commercial and industrial) every city is seperated and you must fulfill each city differently

I think that part is not needed except industry zone for your worker. You can to not build a military or port in every city if you not want that
