I've been setting up rail networks. Passenger and freight.

A couple depots and showing "Limited Access "
What does this mean and how do I resolve it?

Trains still run to these depots, income still generated.
I'm assuming it's affecting efficiency?

Could you provide screenshots?

I actually believe i solved it.

Adding a number of Freight Depots from the Parts menu to relative to the length of the train.

This does mean I can't take a screenshot at the moment.

If Limited Access comes up again, I'll definitely take screenshots

...I spoke too soon.

I'm not sure there's many tutorials on that as of currently

#

And I can't say I've used it much

#

Is if that specific part that has limtied access?

It's happening with both freight and passenger stations now.

With both pre assembled Stations and Depots of all sizes, as well as custom assembled S and Ds

Adding platforms (passenger) and depots (freight) seems to solve it, but only temporarily.

Have to say, it's not a huge issue.
Doesn't break the route or game, just reduces income.

I'm unsure if it's the trains with limited access to stations, or stations with limited access to trains.

Going forward, I'll keep increasing number of Platforms and Depots.

If that's ineffective, I'll reduce the number of Ps and Ds to default and increase the number of trains.

I'll be back with my findings. I just hope they'll be of use to someone somewhere.

Yeah the train system is fairly new too

#

So I look forward to seeing what you can find out! It will help me help people since haven't had time to mess with it myself yet

Cool. Happy to share anything i know.

This is the best thing about modern gaming.

A community coming together to help each other get the most from a game they love.

Didn't get that with Super Plumber Bros...

I put this together.

4 staions consisting of same parts.

No income until wealth moves in. (Assuming that's by design, all good)

Depot and decorations give the stations their capacity value.

Depot = 30.
Deco = 10.

Coal train = 70

Smooth running at the moment. I'll push to replicate LA error next.

#

Every depots makes a staion, provided 2 spaces seperate them.

There is a limited size

#

Limit it 32.

Any shape you want.

#

There's more to look into here when combining D and P.

Initial thoughts are limited to the number of Station parts (Depots/Loxal÷Long distance Platform) not limited by decorations.
(May be capacity limit)

Stations can be as large as you like.

It's at this point I realised I should have used sandbox mode. Everything I've shown is in hard mode.

Capacity is capped at 960 as far as I could tell.

30 × 32 = 960 so makes sense.

Interesting

#

Have you been able to recreate that issue yet?

agile star
#

Yes.

Turned out I didn't have to push.

Added 2nd coal train to same route - no affect.
Reverted to 1 coal train.
Tells me not a need more trains error.

Increasing station capacity is a temporary fix.

So, over time I'm expanding that one station.
The more I expand, the quicker the stations fills.

So it seems to me, it's station capacity not keeping up with incoming goods from nrarby industrial zones.

I'll keep expanding till there's balance.

#

I'm expanding capacity in incraments of 10. Letting LA error happen naturally. No speeding up.

Does mean it's taking a long time...

Station at Commercial zones also having same error. I haven't paid much attention to that yet though as industrial more active.

Residential and empty stations no activity. No issues/errors.

Something to note.

Leaving city, entering another, then returning will remove LA.

But, I would imagine that's because all capacies at stations and on board trains are zeroed when you enter a city.
