How train work in this game?

My little town have big issue with huge traffic jam because my heavy industries and tons of farm I had created, so the first thing come into my mind is "why not build a freight railway, to decrease the amount of the truck coming in and out from the town" So I did but I have no idea how goods are delivered in this game is it warehouse to warehouse or industry to commercial. So because I don't have any knowledge of this I just made 2 freight station, from my industrial zone all the way down to my harbour which is of course didn't work. So can any of you guys tell me how goods delivery mechanics work in this game or how train works in this game

You just place two stations (anything that spawns trains) away from each other and is connected via rails

There is a note when you click on a freight train station: only decorative.
If you want to get rid of the trucks: Highway.
And what I have seen: industry sending trucks to harbours, so make a fast road between them.
All 3 kinds of trains for people work btw.

Oh thank you, I never knew train are just a decoration in this game, it's disappointing honestly
