what's the use of this feature

so i can specify upgrades in my compositions…? the specific use case is that i want to make a plugin with modulable parts, with some pre-made compositions using these parts as well. however, i also want to have some features of the modular parts to come from upgrades, as to reduce the number of objects in the plugin and simplify it. i.e. for a minor visual change i can just have it as an upgrade instead of defining it as an entirely new object
