Hello, I use Theotown steam version, yesterday I encountered this situation and after restarting the game I was able to access the plugin repository. However, today I can no longer access it. It says "no connection, you are offline"; I installed 64 bit Java offline (link: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) and restarted the computer but still couldn't fix it. Please help me.

When submitting a good crash report, please provide the details of when or under what circumstances the game crashed as well as the following files which can be found in TheoTown folder:

  • crash.txt
  • log.txt
  • out.txt
    You can find out TheoTown's directory for your system by checking out Ptag files.

Moreover, if you can trigger the game to crash with the same error in a reproducible fashion, please mention that in your report as well as that helps us get it to crash on our own machines which in turn lets use fix it easier.

Depending on how old this is, I'd start by changing your heap size for java

If you encounter java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space error, that means that the game ran out of memory (ram) while processing your request or action.

If you're on mobile, there's not much you can do to alleviate this issue, closing other applications in the background might help. For PC, you can simply increase the maximum heap space as a launch argument. For example -Xmx4G will let the game use up to 4 gigabytes of memory. That is, of course if you have enough memory. Generally, it's not a good idea to allocate more than 50% of your entire system memory. If that doesn't work and you're on PC, please check if you have 64 bit Java installed, because if you don't, game can only use 2 gigabytes of memory.

I have 32Gb of ram and I have set Java heap to 4096 in control panel. But still cannot fix the above situation.

The heap is set in the steam properties for the game, not directly in java

If this doesn't work however I will ping a dev to help you trouble shoot the issue. Since normally installing java fixes this issue

Thank you very much for your support, I discovered that my country's network providers blocked steam, and I had to change my DNS from 8.8.8.8 to Google's DNS. I have overcome it. Thank you once again.

I come from Vietnam. I use this DNS:
IPv4: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
IPv6: 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001
