Converting .ttplugin files into .plugin files

I have downloaded several files and placed them into the TheoTown plugin folder and received and error for they were .ttplugin file. So I'm requesting for help. How do I change it from .ttplugin file into .plugin file so I can avoid these errors? How do I download it in .plugin file instead of .ttplugin file?

That needs to be done by the plugin maker

Any .ttplugins giving you issues need to be updated by their makers
