whitelist the theotown executable on whichever antivirus software you use
how do i do this?
Check your antivirus software
file, folder, extension which?
As has been established in the past (you can even see it on the steam convos) it's a false positive
I've been playing this game for years and have had no experiences with malware
I won't open it until it's fixed with new updates. But I have seen many forum sites that prove what you say. You're probably (90%) right. However, since I do not want to take risks, I will not open it until the new update comes to the game.
I can garuantee you your missing 10% that the developers are not malicious and the game has no malware. Its a false detection and it occasionally happens to some people.
@heavy elm worth looking into!
Wich anti virus program are you using and are you subscribed to the Steam beta channel?
We have to request to whitelist the binary with each anti virus program provider manually.
I am using Windows Defender antivirus. I am registered to the beta on Steam, and when I open the game, I get a "missing file" or "virus" warning on Steam.
I will whitelist it from antivirus.
Thank you, then it's likely related to a recent change in our build process where we changed the binaries. Switching back to non beta would yield the old binaries which are whitelisted with plenty of providers already.
You're welcome. If I encounter any errors, I will try to report them.
