#Moon bug

I encountered the same bug twice in a repeatable way. After mucking with my traffic and repeatedly launching exploration missions, while attempting to enter a moon level for the third+ time in one sitting, my phone freezes. Upon returning, my single maps folder has a moon with no pickles. When entering the level, there is no crash animation or mission text, and still no pickles. This map eventually deleted itself the first time, will see if it deletes itself the second time. In both cases, the home city I launched from did not lose launch resources, it was a "free" launch, and the recent builds did not autosave either, so the game obviously crashes before it got that far. Here is the relevant part of my log.txt and out.txt, no crash.txt was generated. It is not uncommon for my phone to freeze and/or run out of memory, but this app is relatively stable compared to other games. Picture of moon below.

Pickles stop spawning after you complete their story quest

I did not complete the quest. And that would not explain the game crash + "free launch".

The crash logs are stored in your file storage as files

#

Ptag files

# azure summit Ptag files

TheoTown files are located under such directories:

  • Windows: C:\Users\(insert username)\TheoTown or %USERPROFILE%\TheoTown
  • Linux: ~/TheoTown
  • MacOS: /user/TheoTown
  • Android: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/info.flowersoft.theotown.theotown/files
By default you should be in /storage/emulated/0/. Uninstalling the game on Android will delete all files, unless you decide to keep the files when prompted by uninstaller.

If you cannot access game files through these directories, game has an in-built file manager for mobile devices which is accessible from the region view menu.

You can find your plugin, music, region and city files there as well as logs for debugging purposes.

When submitting a good crash report, please provide the details of when or under what circumstances the game crashed as well as the following files which can be found in TheoTown folder:

  • crash.txt
  • log.txt
  • out.txt
You can find out TheoTown's directory for your system by checking out Ptag files.

Moreover, if you can trigger the game to crash with the same error in a reproducible fashion, please mention that in your report as well as that helps us get it to crash on our own machines which in turn lets use fix it easier.

As I said, no crash logs were created.

Ive provided everything I can. The bug has happened 3 times now. One of my free moons is still around, and did not delete itself like the others, likely because I loaded into it before returning to my launch site and launching again. The instance code for the free launch matches the code for the next launch after I reload from crashing. That is, if I understand what the instance code is for. Just guessing, based on the log. I have a tiny bit of dev/coding experience.

#

I noticed I get a different instance code with every launch, except the 2 times I read the log after crashing, then the code matches for the bugged launch and the next launch after.

Ive encountered the launch bug 4 more times (I was running tests today). One time was after freshly launching the game, which is strange since all the other times were after playing for 30+ minutes. I was trying to max out memory usage with my traffic jams which seems related. The last few times, I let the app stay frozen for longer before recovering, hoping it would make a crash report. It did not. It stayed frozen with no log activity whatsoever until the next game start. I used easily identifiable log events to "fence in" the bug, a common testing method. I have also come to the conclusion this bug is neither serious or harmful, and possibly comes down to annoying android gimmicks, since a similar freezing/memory issue is present in other apps (with a variety of strange outcomes). If the devs want to tackle it anyway, Im here to help but probably offered all I can already.
