When playing the big map this was kinda my main interest in playing the 'scenario' as I though there would be a ton of traffic going between cities on the highways and you would need to manage it, but really there is barely any traffic, which is really a shame.
It would also be cool if there was more progression, having to full-fill tasks to unlock new regions, because it really seems I can just unlock all of them at once? What's the point of having locked regions then?
#Why is there almost no inter-regional traffic?

like I think demand should transfer between regions, let's say you have a city with a ton of industry and commercial, but not enough housing, that will raise your residential demand even in other regions, so in another region you would maybe build a lot of residential and people would then travel to go work and shop in another city or something, which doesn't seem to be the case in the game, which I think is kind of a shame, since I really like this game and it would make the campaign maps so much cooler, since it would actually be like an interconnected world
I would also like to ask about this, I find the import export menu really confusing, why can a small town of 3500 import 177 thousand of a waste service? There is no way the town needs that much waste service???
I think this would be a lot less confusing if the import and export was in %.
Like if you imported 100% of waste service from a neighbouring town it would mean it would cover 100% of your waste problems... aka all the waste your town produces will be exported to the other town and you could lower or raise that %, 0% would mean you are not importing any waste service, meaning you are not exporting any waste to the other town.
like the way it is is really confusing to me, how can I import 177 thousand litres a day of waste disposal service? Like it must just be allowing me to import the max extra capacity of the other town, instead of just what i need, which makes it really hard for me to for example have one town deal with all the waste from another town, since I don't know how much I need, plus I would keep have to be adjusting it, while if it was a % it would always import that %, and if it was 100% it would always cover 100% even if the town grew or decreased and the price I pay would change accordingly
it's just really confusing the way it is imo, I just can't figure out how to get what I want
Like where can I even see how much waste disposal service my town needs? I can at least see energy and water consumption, but not waste disposal and funeral
I suggest you play sim city 4 if you want that
fairly simply
As for this, again, sim city 4
A lot of your suggestions seem to be "easier for you" yet no where else is having this "problems"
I suggest you use the our suggest feature next time rather than our support channel
But also also
what's the point of having connecting roads then?
yea?
so that's the point
what?
That's the use of road connections
i get the connection for power and water, but why have like big highways... when the cars don't use them? I was really excited to build on a map where other cities influence each other and then I realised literally no cars travel from one city to another, which is kinda disappointing to me, since it was one of the main reasons the game got me excited, since i haven't seen a game where you would have regions that you unlock with slowly increasing demands for population or something and having traffic flow through them... at least that's what i initially thought when i saw the 'campaign modes' which got me really excited, but it doesn't seem to be the case sadly
Use psuggest
In #bot-commands
well originally it was a question, because i found it weird that there is no traffic, and i still don't understand the sharing resources menu
ah
And no maybe that'll change with the transportation update but who knows what will be added
As for you sharing issue give me a few minutes and I'll start up the game to explain
what's the transportation update? will busses be fixed? cause atm setting up lines is really frustrating as the busses sometimes take even a longer route and I often can't get them to use the bus lanes
#transport-system-feedback should give you an idea of what the community wants it to be
And seeing as it's been in work for years. I assume they're getting it
Again I would just read though that channel I linked
oh, yeah
nobody really mentions the busses taking absurd paths, but ig having a road with bus lanes would solve that
as now if I put a bus lane right next to a road, the bus still often takes the road
which can be frustrating
but in general I know about this game for years and years, just joined the discord now as it was the first time I tried to play the 'campaign' since i noticed the highways and it interested me by the world-building aspect, but then no cars went on my highways, so i searched online why they aren't and didn't find any answers which is why i eventually joined this discord server
yeah but sim city isn't as charming as this game, plus I got a history with this game, I never cared for sim city, it's just kinda a old meh game
Which is fair, and as for the busses I think that's just the nature of the bad AI
From what I have been able to tell that transport update pretty much requires a full game re-write so hopefully that'll be fixed
In regards to this. I see what ya mean some graphs would be useful... that would be a nice suggestion
Re-writing game's code will take months or even years(, ChatGPT unless)
yeah hopefully... like transport is a big part of building cities, and it's fun to see people communing about and such with transport
yeah, like water and electricity is okay with this system, but waste and funeral you just have no indication or any idea of how much you need
Yeah and don't get me wrong alot of the current systems tend to be work arounds based on the limits of the current code
since there is no data for them
Yeah I, or you if you'd like, can put in a suggestion for that
yea, i hope this game keeps improving cause it's just really pretty aesthetically i love the pixelated vibes, reminds me of like rollercoaster tycoon classic and such
will do later then, thanks for answering ^^
Of course, I hope that helps you a little!
yeah does a little ig, looking forward to the transport update
cause the bus ai rn is pain, xd
Yeah most of the AI isn't the best tbh
i think cars are pretty fine and stuff, didn't really notice with other things as much as the busses
i struggled with that for a long time like yesterday or the day before
i ended up putting the bus stops on the bus lanes too and not connecting it to roads as much as possible
but that's kinda hard when you have a built up city and only wanted busses to evade traffic in some spots
since you can't put bus lanes everywhere
Yeah I get that
I had a situation like this... white is normal roads, red is bus lanes and blue is bus stops
and the bus went like this (orange line)
lol
if it just went straight 🤣
but no, it turns to the main road, then down another road, goes back then up the same road again and then goes on the inner road there
like ig the bus is playing a 'how many intersections i can go through' collectible game
can you catch them all? ...well the bus did
haha
that is quite the oddity...
yeaaaa... and i couldn't for the life of me get it to go on the road
oh and you see it up there taking the red bus lane to the stop?
on the way back there was no stop so it just took the congested road instead
the bus just hates the bus lanes, lol
yeah it's fairly similar to C:S in that way haha
i finally got it to , but I needed to delete the 2 intersecting white roads, and I connected one from below instead
TheoTown is written in Java with OpenGL rendering engine
and had to put like more bus stops
and stuff to have it go as it should have
if they can't fix the ai
they could add waypoints
that's also an idea
we will see after the update
I would hope it'll fix that system
yea, let's hope
i have no idea
haven't played it in years
i bought like a lot of the DLC when it was discounted with like... the ima play it later
and now they announce cities skylines 2
f*ck me
xd
It seems like most games with bus systems have that odd bus not wanting to take the road thing
or they have other cars on the road as well
maybe they should really just add waypoints, like stops that the bus doesn't stop at but tell it where to go, and you would place them like bus stops and then just add them the same way as stops when planning the route, the bus just wouldn't stop there
like if the ai still sucks after the update, this could be a decent solution
cs doesn't know how to use more than 1 lane on a road, xd
lmao
8 lane road... conjested cause all the cares take 1 lane
yeah the lane math is whacky
i feel that theo town is maybe even better at taking alternate roads than cs
if I put 2x a one way road next to each other
the cars take both
like I built this complicated road system yeterday
and it actually worked and solved my industry are traffic
i think in cities skylines a similar load layout wouldn't perform as well
yeah cya
whacha mean by tat, that's an agree or disagree?
agree haha
haha, okay, yeah, then we are on the same page
