so my WoL is based on one of my books' characters, but twisted to fit 14's world

She is basically a doll possessed by her creator's soul. She is extremely curious and apathetic. She creates other dolls and puppets to both possess or do stuff that could help her gain some time (those would be my retainers )

She wishes to study the world and using different dolls (which could actually be explained as to why one is able to create alt characters) allows her to watch over all things.

Life is a series of questions for which she seeks answers, no matter the cost. In her apathetic nature, morals are non-existent. If she must lay waste to the entire universe to find one single answer, it will be done. Mentions of considering compressing time itself out of sheer curiosity are recorded in her papers.

Also, the Scions and other people in the msq accompanying her are just means to her ends; she does not really care if they're gone one day, as it would be no more than drops of water in the ocean to lose them. For one that has lived for a long time through the use of multiple bodies, letting go of worldly things and people has become very natural, and her apathy only compliments that learned stoicism. Only the satiety of her curiosity truly matters 🤔

||I have to agree. Not only that but this moment felt sudden and honestly didn't make me feel anything||

||I thought her character fell hard when she found out about the truth and just took a huge backseat from the story but in my mind it at least made sense for her to just fade away. 'At least they'll bring her up when necessarry and follow up properly on what's next for her'. Is what I thought. Then boom, sudden sacrifice scene outta nowhere that IMO is more of a detriment to her buildup so far than an acceptable emotive moment. Oh well.||

||If anything it felt like she was going to be a foil to the WoL as a long-term character. Someone chosen by the same goddess that choose us but doesn't have the same luck, resolve, etc. so her course of events is different (more unfortunate, partially because of her own doing, etc.) but eventually develops out of that.||

||But yeah, that's the thing, there is no proper "villain" this time around, which I like quite a lot. It's more like everyone wants the same thing, but the means to reach a common ideal are different. Our own actions are questioned as they would undoubtedly bring an end to things, while the sacrifice of a few may yet allow life to prevail. Halmarut is very pragmatic about it, while we, so far, have been very idealistic and blinded by our heroics. I think it is a very interesting turn for 14 in general.||

An ff7 themed expansion has always been a "break glass in case of emergency situation" lol. And DT has certainly been a situation akin to that.

Thinking about it further, since ShB especially, the msq's writing have had a lot of philosophical references here and there. We've had directly Utopia by Thomas More, as well as takes on nihilism and such

Going forward from now, I think references to Camus and the absurd could very well fit the themes

I actually really hope this is true. I've been saying since before DT that I want another Heavensward like expansion ||where the scions somehow get split up and we're left stranded with only a couple of them trying to reunite and solve whatever gets thrown our way for the majority of the expac||

That isn't really the vibe I get from Evercold. But I think it'd be a good change up of the formula.
