I’ve just been accepted to a team to make props and weapon models for a game, and the leader said it was ok for me to use models I create for this game to showcase in my personal portfolio. But I’m a little shaken up by the thought of doing this and getting sued later since it was just said over a voice call. Should I get that permission in writing like an email? Or am I completely overreacting? I’m brand new to this career field and thinking of legal repercussions has me kind of scared.

It is always nice to have something written, an email might be sufficient. Else, it depends on the level of trust you have with your employer, and if you have an NDA signed or not.
