I would like if you could search the username of a player you know and send a friend request, then the player decides if he wants to accept or decline, then accepting would make you mutual friends. This would be better than needing to know the exact ID and then needing to rummage through a clan member list, assuming that player is part of a clan, and hoping he's in there.
