Imagine if you could buy a sword belt and a scabbard specifically for your weapons. Think like the back storage and quiver now, but persistent and customizable. If you want a sword scabbard on your hip, cool. It's there. When you draw it, you draw it from there. You can put it back as you like. You could have chest storage for usable items (health potions? Dirty tricks like pocket sand?) or thrown weapons or a dagger.
You could have a back quiver or a hip quiver. If you're a dedicated archer, both! Blunt in one, armour penetrative in the other.
Never use bows? Don't bother with a quiver and have two back hooks and two scabbards. Back hooks when not used for a scabbard would be best for two handed weapons and shields
There could even be a mechanic where if a purchased weapon has been dropped for too long, it auto returns to its slot. Picked up weapons don't fit in scabbards or hooks not made for them though.
