Situation encountered this StL:
I have an epic trinket with only two stats instead of the normal three. I'm not 100% sure, but I remember it dropping in a story level. When I applied a Transcendental Hammer on it I ended up with the trinket having the 3rd stat (chosen by me), but it remained Epic not Legendary as expected.

Is it possible it was only a rare but you were mistaken by the main color of the trinket?
