I feel like when it comes to the designs they should've incorporated alot more of the inspiration-based animals actual 'meaning' like. The ones that are forest spirits could've had more like. Supernatural esq aspects or aesthetics

They're still overall cute for the most part

Well some are bigger and other smaller, and other have more distance between eyes than others, and some have blush stickers and eyebrows and other don't, but I agree there could be better diversity in this matter

Who knows, but maybe. It's true that most are related with a species or a concept that was later used for a new Tama. The only that made in from that pic, besides the mascots, are Mametchi (who was an obvious addition), Sebiretchi and Otototchi (this one is weird, but not that weird when several Tamagotchi Tamas from Tamagotchi Ocean were reused here)

Then, there's a gem Tama, a flower Tama, a shark Tama, an axolotl Tama... who you can see for who they got replaced for

And then Dorotchi, because

I wonder what the thought process was behind who from the old cast made it and who didn't

I mean besides like mametchi, mimitchi, kuchipatchi, etc

My theory is that the ones that didn't pass had gameplay reasons, but that's of course speculation. But well, Daiyatchi would look weird with the color changes and Kusatchi may have too many colors for it. As for Woopatchi, probably they saw it less natural than the rest of the water cast or they already had Mermarintchi with the same eyes. Dorotchi is hard to see when it doesn't fit in any single family (and the "Float Species" are Water so...).
The only one I cannot see why they would decide to cut is Shykutchi because of the small number of colors and its unique eyes, but I won't complain because Sharktchi is one of my faves from Paradise

That doesn't mean I wouldn't love them here. It's not like we didn't get some Tamas with too generic eyes (dot eyes syndrome) and some are hard to combine with other colors that is not theirs anyways

Could just be that they wanted to create new species, too, instead of having them all be returning ones. That way they can make them blend with the environment and setting a bit more, rather than having to readjust how they look to fit the Paradise-vibes like with Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, Furawatchi, Mimitchi, etc.

That and new characters are always fun to see! As much as I love all the previous ones, too ^^

This is just early concept art, usually it’s not much of a tell about which characters were strongly planned for each area

It’s very possible that there just weren’t many of the new characters designed or decided upon just yet

That makes sense too, knowing that Butterflytchi was readjusted so hard that they ended up making a whole new Tama

Yeh you can see they even share the exact same eyes, so I have to imagine that part of the design process behind new Tamas sometimes comes down to tweaking old ones again and again until you settle on something new. :3

i had to take a break from paradise after about 70 days because my brain was in such a bad headspace

it was easier to manage when i had the special trio

i might run them again someday. i believe the On and the Paradise have very good replayability

also looking forward to when Jade forest gets ported to Oceania then i can try running one tama instead of 3 at a time

From what I can tell, the odds of what you can find are different depending on which you choose.

I'm on land field rn and for example, I pick up meat more often from the volcano than I do at the spring

for egg hunts anywhere, there are three different pools of items it'll pull from: one for volcano, one for spring, and one for both. if you go to volcano, you have a chance to get items from the first group and the last group. if you go to spring, you have a chance to get items from the last two groups. generally speaking, volcano is for meat and spring is for plants. the third group is generally an "other" group

there are some exceptions, for the pedantic. namely, the bugs in land's "other" group are still meat, irl, and the seaweed in water's "plant" group is actually a type of protist, irl. but you get the idea

I swear the Grim Gotchi truly were generous with the amount of time to save the Tamagotchi
And yeah, here a total of 3 beeping, each one last 5 min
If you failed the third one, it actually show the Three Grim Gotchis instead a four beeping (because four is associate with death)

I have been trying to filled my sky with TamaStars as it completed it
I feel bad for killing them however

But for the last star, i will get the secret character and get it to live past 30 days, so i can get the shiniest and happiest one

(is there a particular reason i can't post pictures here to give visual proof of six out of the seven colors i listed? not that that's necessary, i suppose)

Nono sorry, the "grays" aren't actually colors from the Paradise

I took them from m!x/On sprites because that's how they appear in those files

They're moreso templates for which shades are applied where

we could try having a control color. buy 48 "be pink juices" and try one on every species

or maybe get lucky with breeding

It's annoying with shades like yellow too cause if you get a "light yellow/cream" colored Kawazutchi, for example, it'll have the normal yellow's lighter shades and look the same as like...Mametchi's yellows, rather than Pochitchi's if the Kawazutchi body had the normal yellow

It's fairly similar to what the m!x and On do, but with the added annoyance of lighter and darker versions of colors that overlap

Even if the m!x/On had yellow and "light yellow"/cream, the shades were entirely different there

i would almost rather there be like eight juices that could each give one of two colors

yeah kinda seems like a missed opportunity. i guess they really wanted players to engage with the breeding mechanic

but the idea of having a mission to see all the colors runs counter to that, because it encourages players to either spam juice or always start with a new egg rather than breeding

i think they were imagining that players would choose to breed with tamas that have the color they want, but that's not a guaranteed outcome, and if it gives the wrong color the new tama is locked into a color you've already seen. unless you use juice. which defeats half the point of breeding for certain traits and only makes raising a fresh bloodline more enticing

So far I love the gen mixing on the Paradise, it's simple and yet really complete too in a way. Some results really speaks volumes just by the eyes or the colors combined. Having the same eyes don't bother me much, it's like a familly tree and helps me to remember who is the child of who or grandchild even 🙂

.9 * .9 = 0.81 chance of a """""failed""""" hunt, .9 * .1 = 0.09 chance of a failed hunt followed by a successful hunt, again for the opposite order, and then .1 * .1 = 0.01 of two successful hunts. so 0.18 chance of one successful hunt, 0.01 chance of two. so the expected value is .2 successful hunts on a given day. yes, okay cool i can still do math

Aahhh that happened to me before too! Not right after curing it from sickness, but it prompted me to evolve it only 15 minutes after hatching

Then I flushed the poop on the screen, got distracted irl and forgot to answer the prompt so it reset the cells

But it was literally only 15 or so minutes after it hatched, Paradise is so glitchy sometimes

Now I just checked every now and then but seems the kid stage is acting normal, also had to feed it 19 color juice to finally get yellow .... I let you imagine how many gotchi points I went throught

my usual method on previous models is to set the time to 12 pm when starting up, completely ignore it entirely through the baby stage, get caught up on care once it evolves, and then set the clock correctly before going to bed lol

oh well i guess, i usually get perfect care characters every time i run a tama bc i'm meticulous about keeping its stats up and pausing when i'm away so at least it'll be different

Baby stage is honestly unbearable on the Paradise compared to other devices...and I'm usually very on top of keeping them happy and healthy too, I don't just turn off the sound and leave them alone :<

Hm. You know what I noticed, too? It happened at the exact hour, like it had just turned 2:00pm on the device.

I think that might have something to do with it, cause I swear these weird glitches happen all the time when I try to time it so they're kids before I have to leave work at 4:30pm (I set my Paradise time two hours behind).

It's because setting or changing the time removes the sale so players don't "cheat" but...you can also just change the date to 11/4 at 11:59pm, let it go to 12am 11/5 and the sale will be back until you decide to change the time again xD

Anyways, personally the only and biggest glitch I encountered (I think?) (and it's been happening more recently) is the lack of calls when one of the meters ran out

It's starting to be rare that it beeps when it original did much more before

Calls issues are honestly unforgivable especially when there is no way to make up for even one mistake! Having your "run" ruined just because of a glitch... Anyways anyways, I hope it's fixed for the next wave. It's like widespread and there are different variants? Like the one you just mentioned

Funny enough it's the total opposite for me, when I played the Paradise at launch, it didn't call me when happiness or hunger was low, I had to touch the device for it to beep the moment I did .... was weird. My favorite was the one where I'm able to buy more color potions than money I have, so the game buys it but since I don't have enough money the game doesn't use money

So I keep the money and get the potions

I discovered it accidentally and tried to emulate it after that. I made it a few times but most times I'm not lucky

There is another one in the baby minigame, where sometimes all babies start crying but not all them are crying so even if I give them food the level gives me a game over

i feel like i'm getting into this hobby just as bandai is shitting the bed on a bunch of stuff. like the paradise is fun but everyone's saying it's not as good as other color versions, and the connection rerelease has crippling battery issues that's making it kind of a nightmare to use

unrelated whining but it just occurred to me that by the time you have access to all shirotamas, unless you're still trying to do missions for collecting specific foods from egg hunts or cooking all the meals, it's probably faster to just play the baby minigame on normal or hard and use the money to buy a meal. or just feed your tama pellets and pocket the minigame money, which is more profitable than doing egg hunts and selling all the food. the only real use for egg hunts at that stage is trying to complete the fifty successful egg hunt missions, and it's only possible to get a successful egg hunt with your active tama, making the extra two hunts kind of a waste of time

I remember seeing the metal tray you feed the Paradise on before release and thinking "surely when they love/trust you more you feed them in a less detached way". It took me a while to stop thinking it looked off. I mean you CAN feed them in a fancy way instead, it feels a bit strange that lab mode is more engaging with its 500 games and shops, compared to being in the field with the tamas. I'm still grappling with this device, since I naturally compare it to other models.

I'll explain it with the example of how I discover it.
I had 3000 gotchi points to buy a color potion. I was going to buy one, but before click on buy, I accidentally move the dial, so the number changed to "2" before doing the purchase. Then, I saw I had 2 potions, but the funniest part is that I didn't lose any single gotchi point.
So, after several tests, I discovered that if you rotate the dial fast enough to add a bigger amount than the quantity you can actually adquire with your current points before click to buy, you can buy this amount by the price of 0 gotchi points.

excluding the special character i completed the "tamadex" finally

took me 130 days of continuously running the tama to complete this, which amounts to 6 AAA batteries, towards the end the pellets for feeding and the Bolo snack were a lifesaver
