It could be lasting longer because you aren't clearing the sickness? I'm not sure how death works on the V3, but I thought it had to "get sick" enough times to actually start doing the death animation. :<

Not that it's immortal obviously, I just think it dies faster if you clear the sickness, leave everything empty and have it get sick again and again.

I think on most versions, leaving the illness or letting it starve for around 12 hours will kill it. It definitely would've been faster to fill the hearts, but I was busy and it was more convenient to just leave him unpaused lol

Things to check for anyone who gets Ringotchi or Ichigotchi: If they still have the same likes/dislikes from V2/V4, or entirely new ones

Ringotchi’s was fruit juice (L), donut (D) in V2, and BBQ (L), corn (D) in V4.

Ichigotchi’s was milk (L), drumstick (D) in V2, and cupcake (L), pear (D) in V4.

Hmm, so excluding special items and food, the only V3 items that haven’t been seen on this version are Make-up, Shoes, Drumstick and Fish

Seasonal items, password items and souvenirs and the royal costume are all unconfirmed

Not sure if we still have more Keitai items to see - the Kakigori hasn’t been seen in the shop or being sold by the vendor so far so either it’s password-only or it’s seasonal

Minor difference, but when the adult leaves the baby on the new connections, the only button you can use after midnight is B for the clock. You can't select any icons or even turn the sound off.

When you go to name the new baby, the previous tama's name is already filled in.

I really wish it reset the name. So tedious putting in a new name all starting from different letter points. Now we have to look at the screen to name instead of doing it by number of beeps per letter (maybe I'm alone in that).

It shows the baby on the floor instead of the baby over a space that lists gender. It's not the end of the world as long as you know what the sprite looks like.

I didn't know If I had a girl or a boy when I named my baby the first time on this tama, I managed to guess correctly that it had been a girl but I only saw it for a split second >_<

This happened to me... I knew how the sprite for boy/girl looks like, but when it hatched it only showed the baby for a second and it went straight to the name screen. I was almost sure I saw a girl... But decided on a unisex name just in case

something curious is that there’s quite a lot of images on the website that don’t match up with items on the device at all

• Bread slice (the only bread on the device is not the slice from the V2)
• Cookie (the Keitai kind, this might be a seasonal item)
• Edamame (not even a Keitai item, it’s an Entama item and it’s in one of the website secrets so it must mean something?)
• PC (also a Keitai item, but also a V3 souvenir - possibly just refers to the latter)
• Stuffed toy (Keitai, item names suggest that this one is on this version but it’s not been seen yet - maybe Japan-only?)
• Magnifying glass (???)
• Key (there were two key souvenirs on the V3 for some reason, so this is probably a reference to those)

I think there was also a graphic of a character using a watering can but I doubt that means anything

The matchmaker sequence was also slightly different - the partner floats in from the top, while on the V3 they come in from the side, the aforementioned kissing animation, and instead of "love?" it now says "marry?"

Her sprite is also different when presenting the mate - eyes open vs eyes closed

According to the wiki

On the Keitai, a new sprite was added as a new frame for her eating animation. On the V2 and V3, this was accidentally turned into her default sprite.
Eyes open is her "correct" default sprite, eyes closed is the aforementioned eating sprite
Same error was made with Ojitchi on those versions too

Looks like maybe they fixed the error and went back to using her proper sprite

A few notes about the item list on the wiki for anyone with a device to review, I don't have a new connection so I can't check these for myself but this is based off the notes I've been making whilst observing other people's:

• "Creme Puff" should be "Cream Puff"
• "Onigiri" is called "Rice Ball" I believe?
• "RC Car 1" should be the original RC CAR I believe? I've seen the old RC TOY be called "RC CAR 2" in some footage
• Also "RC Car 2" is currently written as "RC Car 3" on this page
• I notice "SHOES" is included on the wiki but these haven't been seen on any devices yet to my knowledge (did I miss something?)
• TICKET3 I believe is the wave ticket (formerly the Australia ticket)
• CUCKOO CLOCK should just be CLOCK now
• HONEY says LOVE POTION - can anyone confirm whether this is the name they've gone with on this device? People tend to call it this for some reason even though it was HONEY on most connections
• The ticket souvenirs match the ticket order (i.e. Skis (10) from Ticket 1, Palm Tree (11) from Ticket 2, etc.)

Very very minor detail, but on the V3, when playing Get and ticking over to "100" for game completion, it kept the last number on the counter, e.g. if you were at 98 and got a 🎵 it'd stay at 98 and then you'd win the game. On the 2024 version, the same thing just happened to me, but it counted up to 99 after I grabbed a 🎵 and then I won. Just a weird and minor detail. X3

Tamagotchi in general has been downplaying gender lately

On the Smart and Uni it's not ever displayed and the guide books don't mention male/female, only "from [baby character]"

With the connection rerelease they can't hide it completely because the character roster isn't gender-based and they're still restricting breeding to a boy-girl pair

Much like the Smart and Uni, it's like they're only going halfway with making gender less important

It feels different than on the English connections but I'm probably just getting mixed up.

It's a little confusing because the baby needs praise when crying, but after evolving it turns away from you instead of crying, that's when you praise. Otherwise it is scold.

I never really paid attention to or understood training calls when I was a kid

If it helps, the required training call is usually the opposite of what the previous one was

I’ve been tracking training calls and they occur every three hours from waking up

So say, your tama wakes up at 8am, the first training call will be 11am, then 2pm, then 5pm etc

Quick addendum: due to when I started my tamas they didn’t do a training call before going to bed for the first time, so I am assuming until they go to sleep for the first time it’s every three hours after evolving into the child stage

If you know the hunger rate of your character (easiest way to do this is to empty the hunger hearts, replenish 1, note the time, then wait for the next attention call and note its time), you might be able to set a timer and film it
I don't know for certain if connection-era tamas also work like this but I think there's a good chance

I don’t believe skipping ahead will count, since it didn’t count on the original connections, it has to be three complete unpaused hours of real time

Unable to test right now anyway since my tamas are both adults right now and I don’t wanna reset

(For context, on the original connections v1-4.5, calls were every three hours from evolving into child stage, minus time spent asleep)

I started my second gen this morning and I must say I really don't like the change to the naming screen lol, I named my second gen a completely different name from my first and it took me twice as long to type it in as it would've on the originals

I've had this thing happen twice now where I'm looking at my item list and the screen goes full black for just a second. I suspect it was caused by the time ticking to 30 after and the tama trying to do an animation, but it getting cancelled as I moved through the menu

both my megatchi and my mametchi got 300G upon evolving, in the keitai the amount would be different depending on your character's tier
serious characters would get 500G instead iirc

Update: he died a few hours later, I didn't time it properly, I think it took around 30 hours
Second toddler survived after getting sick 8 times (7 from care misses, 1 from discipline miss)
I'm guessing it dies after 10 illnesses? That's a lot, maybe it's cumulative between stages? Maybe toddlers are immortal now, or perhaps it knows that I'm trying to record it for a project I'm working on lol

💩 related observations:
It can poop 8 times during the baby stage, on the ogs it would only do it around 6 times
Going on the toilet will also flush the poop (I don't remember the ogs doing this, but maybe I'm misremembering)
Unchi-kun comes and cleans up immediately now, on the keitai you have to wait 1 minute

Also a random glitch I caught today: while it was doing the normal idle animation, the screen faded and shut off for a second. I hope it's just the battery running low 💀

Heading on V2 is much harder cause the speed at which it falls is based on the timing of you hitting it, on the V3 and the 2024 Connections it doesn't matter when you hit it, it always goes the same speed

like you are paired against opponents in the same weight range as you and the higher you are in that range the higher your chances are to win
but when you go over the max for that range you are suddenly the lowest weight of your range and you lose way more often

but maybe it's just my imagination

but if the toddler stage lasts 1 day, the teen one lasts 3 days and the adult one lasts 7 days (as it did before) that should be 11 days total, so maybe they Did shorten the adult stage a bit

I watched a few repair and cleaning videos, let that info sink in for several months or years, then started doing it and haven't had any problems. Even when I made mistakes I was able to overcome them. But I procrastinated like hell and it wasn't worth the procrastination.

it could not be simpler, you just have to be careful with the speaker wires, they are fragile

and the new connections don't even have that issue

the displays are just connected with these rubber strip things, i actually have no idea how they work lol

Last year the resonator on my clear pink V3 died, it has my oldest save file on it so I was glad I knew how to repair it when that happened, extremely easy fix and it runs like it’s new again

If I didn’t teach myself how to repair tamas, it would be sitting in my junk bin right now lol

oh and sometimes pieces like to just, fall out of the screen area when you unscrew the board so keep track of those

i lost the background to one once and while it looked really cool without one

you could see the guts behind the screen

the screen itself was basically totally illegible lol

That would be pretty cool with a thin filter to sorta differentiate the foreground and circuit board behind

it would still be too dark, tamagotchis need a reflective background and that would prevent you from seeing inside lol

especially on the new ones since the screens are so dark

which is odd because the p1/p2 reps screens are too light

They also reflect light differently than the original connections did, I use a mini ring light for many of my tama pics and when I photograph the remake I have to basically shine the light directly on it, like this:

While on the OG, it’s most visible when I go in from the side

Going in from the side on the remake is way less legible

I like the background on the clear retro shell the best, it's light enough that the screen is easily legible

The true friends ones are okay, but their backgrounds are darker which results in them not always being as legible as the clear retro in certain lighting

I tried to swap in a glow-in-the-dark background into my rv3 but I could barely see my character. It definitely needs to be either super light or foil paper. I replaced it with some plain white paper for now which helps but I ordered some reflective white paper to also test.

I like nice warm and dim lamp lighting in the house and that's just not great for seeing these screens lol
