Slot 8: Corazón corazon

Here is a rework of Corazón. Why the rework?

  • He is known for being a weak champion number-wise.
  • He has no synergy with Oxventurer Guild champions.
  • He is boring.
  • All Oxventurer Guild members, other than himself and Prudence have gold find tag, a thing that could be handy for him and the affiliation.
The goals of the rework are:
  • Buff him number-wise.
  • Make him more flexible (support -> debuffer that also affect clicks).
  • Give him gold find tag.
  • Allow him and Oxventurer Guild members to be available on more adventures and variants.
#

Stats

  • Roles: Support/Gold
Note: Now he has the gold find tag.

Shadow Step – Basic Melee Attack (unchanged)

Corazón attacks a random enemy from the shadows.

Master of the Sea (new feature)

Corazón can be used in any A Grand Tour of the Sword Coast campaign adventure or variant, even if he would not normally be available to be used due to variant or patron restrictions.

Pirate’s Code – Ability (modified)

Corazón increases the gold find by 100% for each Neutral (along the good/evil spectrum) Champions in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Note: This ability had 9 +100% and 5 +200% upgrades (+1.24e7%), now it has 7 +100% upgrades (+1.57e4%) as it has been changed from global damage to gold find.

Grease – Ability (modified)

Whenever Corazón attacks he leaves behind a moderately sized puddle of Grease under the enemy he attacked. Grease puddles do not hinder other Champions, but do slow enemies passing through them by 25% and makes them take 100% more damage. The maximum number of Grease puddles on the screen at once is equal to the number of Gold find Champions in the formation. The effects of Grease puddles, include the ultimate flaming puddles, stack multiplicatively if an enemy is standing in multiple puddles at once, with upgrades applying to the pre-stack value.
Note: This ability had no upgrades, now it has 4 +100% upgrades (+1.5e3%) as it provides damage bonus.

Honorary Crewmates – Ability (modified)

All Champions adjacent to Corazón increase their damage by 100% and gain the Neutral tag (along the good/evil spectrum). This does not affect their other alignment tags, and doesn't affect whether they are eligible for the adventure, but will make them eligible for the Pirate's Code and any other abilities that affect or are affected by the Neutral tag.
Note: Now also provides a minor damage bonus, making corazon have a positional ability.

#

Specialization Choice

1) Distant Crewmates (unchanged)

Honorary Crewmates now affects all non-adjacent Champions instead of adjacent ones.
Note: Useful in certain formations and also basically a Gold find specialization due to Pirate Code mechanic.

2) Prepare to Attack! (replace Mage Hand)

Increases the effect of Honorary Crewmates by 200%.
Note: A support specialization.

3) Leader of the Guild (new feature)

Increases the damage of Oxventurer Guild members by 400%, and Oxventurer Guild member can be used if A Grand Tour of the Sword Coast is the current campaign, even if they do not currently qualify based on variant or patron restrictions.
Note: A support specialization for Oxventurer Guild members and also useful to include them as nahara wulfgar or evandra.

Fiery Bombardment – Ultimate Attack (modified)

Corazón's ship, the Joyful Damnation, fires flaming cannonballs from afar, damaging all enemies and lighting all existing Grease puddles on fire for 30 seconds. Enemies in the flaming Grease puddles are dealt 1/30th of this ultimate's damage per second and the pre-stack damage bonus of Grease is increased by 100% while the puddle is on fire.

G.O.A.T. Pirate – Ability (modified)

Increases the effect of Honorary Crewmates by 0.1% each time a Oxventurer Guild member attacks, stacking additively and lasting until reset.
Note: This ability had 4 +100% upgrades (1.50e3%). Now it has 2 +100% and 5 +200% upgrades (9.71e4%) (most of them from the old Pirate Code).

New Item

  • Slot 2: Increases the pre-stack damage bonus of Corazón’s Grease ability by 10% -> 30% -> 50% -> 100%.
Note: Replaces the old global damage item as this ability now needs its own item.
#

New Feats

  • Slippery (Rare, Gold Chest): Increases the pre-stack damage bonus of Corazon’s Grease by 40%.
  • Extra Oil (Epic, 4 Tier Reward): Increases the pre-stack damage bonus of Corazon’s Grease by 80%.
  • Lucky (Rare, Gold Chest): Increase gold found by 25%.
  • Fortune's Favor (Epic, Gems): Increase gold found by 50%.
Note: Grease feats are nice as they are pre-stack for his new modified ability. Gold find feats helps his gold find role.

Comments

General

  • If you check the upgrades, there are the same amount of upgrades, only distributed differently among the abilities.
    Master of the Sea
  • Corazón can be used always in A Grand Tour of the Sword Coast. I like the idea of getting one champion for each campaign and patron always available. I know that some people aren't fan of this kind of feature, but as I said, I want one for each campaign/patron.
    Pirate’s Code
  • As Corazón now has the gold find tag, this ability was modified to increase gold found.
    Grease
  • As Pirate’s Code no longer increases damage, now this ability does.
  • It is pre-stack!!!
  • The number of stacks was changed to synergy with Oxventure Guild champions, as all of them have the Gold find tag (Prudence needs a rework for this).
  • Now Corazón is a debuffer champion and can work with click damage!!!
    Fiery Bombardment
  • It got a minor rewording to consider the new effects of Grease.
    Master of the Sea
  • This new specialization buffs Grease and allows other Oxventurer Guild champions be used in Sword Coast, similar to Evandra and Wulfgar.
    G.O.A.T. Pirate
  • Now it increases the damage of all champion instead of Pirate’s Code. This means that the dps no longer needs to be neutral to benefit from Corazón buffs. Also, synergies with Oxventure Guild members.

Some Math

Full epic, 250 level, 1000 G.O.A.T. Pirate's stacks.
No Feats | With Feats*

Old Corazón

*80% and 40% G.O.A.T. Pirate, 25% and 10% Global Damage.
- Bonus: e14.74 | e15.28

New Corazón

*80% and 40% Grease, 80% and 40% G.O.A.T.
Specialization: Distant Crewmate
- 3 Grease stacks: e15.50 | e17.09
- 5 Grease stacks: e18.93 | e21.31
- 10 Grease stacks: e27.51 | e31.87
Prepare to Attack!
- 3 Grease stacks: e16.92 | e18.52
- 5 Grease stacks: e21.29 | e23.69
- 10 Grease stacks: e32.23 | e36.63
Specialization: Leader of the Guild (Oxventurer DPS)
- 3 Grease stacks: e16.20 | e17.79
- 5 Grease stacks: e19.63 | e22.01
- 10 Grease stacks: e28.21 | e32.57
Gold Find
*40% and 80% Pirate's Code, 25% and 50% gold find.
- 3 Pirate's Code stacks: e3.77 | e4.42
- 5 Pirate's Code stacks: e4.41 | e5.07
- 10 Pirate's Code stacks: e5.93 | e6.59

Now he is quite a strong champion, but only if you can afford having multiple gold find champions in formation for his Grease puddles so that they stack. His numbers seem quite big, but honestly, most champions after their rework got very strong, such as barrowin or new champions as wyll or karlach.

I don't even need to see what you have planned for him. Crappiráte desperately needs a rework. He's quite literally the worst Oxventurer.
I love his Honorary Crewmates ability - it's fairly unique. But he does need gold find (how can he even call himself a pirate without a gold find ability???). And his numbers need some serious boosting.

I like this a lot. Him having gold find will be really useful since the other members of his affiliation minus Prudence have it like you said.

What do you prefer?
1️⃣ Leave him as he is already in your rework.
2️⃣ Change Pirate’s Code to scale with Sword Coast variants.
3️⃣ Change G.O.A.T. Pirate to scale with Sword Coast variants.
Probably, 2 and 3 would require to modify a bit other abilities.

#

If the damage would increase by 10% multiplicatively for each Sword Coast variant, it would reach e26.4. Therefore, Graese should be post-stack instead of pre-stack to not be crazy overpowered.

#

We have:

  • karlach for Zariel variants
  • krux for Xaryxis variants
  • gale for Elminister variants
  • A blessing for Avernus variants
It would be nice one for each campaign/patron
#

What do you think @cerulean briar ?

#

I just realized that champions that can bring other champions to formation in certain variants doesn't scale with that variants and vise versa.
For example wulfgar evandra nahara doesn't scale while karlach gale krux does but can't bring champions. ulkoria and vinursa would be special cause they have neither

cerulean briar
#

Well - so far none of the champions that get damage for [type] variants can't also pull champions into those [type]. So Corazón getting the ability to pull into and get damage from would be a step too far I think.
But I wouldn't mind him having two prestacks. Most of the AA champions have 2 prestacks. Wyll even has 4 prestack items.

granite flower
#

I didn't know about wyll having 4 items, I though there were only 2

#

Bravado increase Folk Hero pre-stack, right.
PAct of the Chain and Pact of the Tome also increase pre-stack, but Pact of the Blade increase post-stack IIRC

cerulean briar
#

Folk Hero (and item 2) are prestack. Bravado (and item 4) buff Folk Hero prestackitively - so while not technically prestack itself - they do apply multiple times.
Ceremorphosis (and item 3) are prestack and apply to Folk Hero prestackitively.
And yeah - Item 5 (all specs) applies to Chain and Tome apply the same way as Bravado - so apply more than once.

#

I don't know why Blade is poststack item and poststack ability while the other specs are not. It makes that spec absolutely terrible.

He definitely needs the gold find tag. I think he does have synergy with the Oxventurers though. His ability to make people neutral means that Merliwen can boost their damage. So I think just boosting the bonus based on the number of neutral characters (on the good evil axis), would be a big help for him.
Either way boosting the gold find either by the number of neutral members, (if you don't make the above change), or by making G.O.A.T. Pirate work off how many Oxventurers members have attacked seem a good way to justify his gold find tag.
The enemies taking more damage in grease puddles & the ability to bring in other Oxventurers members seem like good ideas to me. I think most, if not all, the affiliations should have an ability to bring in other members to adventures they qualify for.

Changes

Honorary Crewmates now also provides a 100% damage bonus.
Prepare to Attack! specialization now buffs Honorary Crewmates.
G.O.A.T. Pirate now buffs Honorary Crewmates.

The changes has been made cause corazon's damage was pretty close to krond's damage. With this change, now corazon's gained a positional buff that can't target himself, therefore reducing his own damage. Being positional also provides some synergy with others champions.
