I don't see "Portal Training" as an option which is what all the old youtube videos refer to.

If you customize any activity, it will always relaunch with the same set of modifiers until you exit the game
When edge of fate launched, this modifier saving function was only available if you went through 3 training runs which introduced you to portal difficulties, modifiers, score, etc.
That training option would vanish once you had done those, not sure if that’s changed but you could see a training difficulty in the list of normal, expert, etc.

if the activity is matchmade sadly you can't save modifiers, as the game will always default to the matchmade version's modifiers when trying to relaunch
