all leveling is done thru the portal or now expansion activities like the campaign and lawless frontiers
u should also do frontiers to hit rank 5 with a syndicate to unlock tier 5s as quick as possible

I think OP is just talking about pinnacle ops. Several of those are exotic missions which were designed so as not be too obvious and with traversal sections
