Banes REDUCE my reward score and have no impact on the Grade

So when I play SOLO if I adjust the bane and add a negative my reward score goes up and my "grade" goes from C to A
When I use FT builder, I add a couple of players, go into adjust the modifiers and the score goes DOWN and the gradfe will not shift from C To A ??
