usually they are missing some kind of bonus effect that the base exotic provides, though you should be able to see whats missing just by comparing the two descriptions
Ok but it wouldn’t be like a buff to something goes from %30 down to like 20 or something they just might be missing an extra affect
99% sure, that none of the effects are secretly weaker
Though if for example spirit of osmiomancy previously (base version) only worked on the stasis grenade, then the class item perk might be scaled differently for the other grenades
Effects are not muted (like 20% vs 30%) but part of the perk from original exotic item is missing. For example, synthoceps exotic class item provides melee damage when surrounded. Original synthoceps provides melee + super damage when surrounded + weapon handling/reload
