focused decoding or using exotic engrams

I wanna get geomag stabalizers I have every leg piece expet them and I am wondering if I should do the focused decoding on legs even though it has a favored outcome to pieces you already have or I should just use the exotic engrams as they are to hope I get a leg piece

focus them specifically so you can start getting them as random drops, exotic engrams have a limited pool or exotics they can give you without needing you have obtained them first

wait so you're telling me I need to have them unlocked first to get them from exotic engrams?

for basically almost all of the exotic that came out after the 1st year of the game yes

you can see which ones can be obtained straight from the engram by inspecting it in your inventory

It does tell me I can get the stabalizers from the engram tho
