#Understanding what makes a good build

ok, one thing you can do is look at an exotic weapon/armor piece, see what it does, and then just build your whole subclass and weapon loadout around it
look at how arc warlock with geomags does it
the whole idea behind it is to generate as many traces as possible to get your chaos reach as often as possible and throw as many ionic sentries as possible since you're using arc abilities and weapons
it can be paired with weapons that have good jolting abilities or have the ability to make traces like coldheart, delicate tomb and lodestar to build even more into the whole crowd control jolting fantasy
and you can have fragments that help with the jolt and trace production like spark of shock, which jolts enemies hit with grenades, discharge which gives you more traces and makes traces give you 1 stack of boltcharge
frequency which doubles bolt charge gains and ions which guarantees 1 trace when killing a jolted enemy or when getting a bolt charge kill
also, keep in mind that a lot of builds can live or die by what the artifact brings, for example all of the good arc warlock and titan builds right now have a level of sustain that is only possible because of the artifact giving heals on bolt charge procs
so they may lose strength once this season ends
some other builds can always be strong, like consecration spam on prismatic titan or lightning surge spam on prismatic warlock
some may only be usable because of the artifact like arc titan with strongholds, storm's keep, a sword with flash counter and all the artifact mods that make bolt charge stronger
hope this gave you an idea on how to make a good or at the very least usable build
the whole stat system is changing soon and with it we may see some armor mods and some exotics get changed too
