Why does the lockset turn the leftmost wheel in the beginning after you've interacted with it? And why does it count?

the lockset will read a wheel everytime a section of the "progression" is complete, doesn't matter if the plate in front of the shrieker is glowing or not

#

the kill symbol starts damage regardless of when it's read, so you can force damage whenever you want

#

which is why in speedruns you see people inputting kill on the 3rd wheel to start damage as early as physically possible while still being able to kill

As far as I know the wheel shouldnt turn if we just interacted with it + the automatic lockset rotation should always skip kill.

blazing pike
#

The shriekers don't care what wheel was changed last, they will always read in the same sequence every single time

#

Kill just sends you straight into damage phase whenever it gets read by a shrieker, not sure what's confusing about it

#

You start encounter, you kill wizards, you dunk knowledge on left most wheel so that kill gets highlighted, you wait for left most to be read, do damage, repeat

#

Also, anytime damage ends the wheel are reset, so you can repeat the strat with little to no difference every single round

#

Any form of randomness is cut from the encounter if you go straight for kill

The encounter is just made that way, Bungie decided the wheels were gonna auto rotate at specific moments, why? I have no idea, probably to throw us off

#

The symbol won't rotate multiple times back to back on the same wheel

#

If you're solo you can easily kill all the wizards you need (which is at most 3, if you know what you're doing you only need 2) before they go back to reading left most even once

okay so I cannot set it beforehand and wait for the lockset to move it into kill?

blazing pike
#

Kill however many wizards you need (2 at most if you make it rotate in a way that benefits you)

#

Grab the knowledge, put it in the wheel, and you wait

#

You're seriously over complicating the encounter
