I am want to farm a raid checkpoint but dont understand how it fully works. i know that i would load in on my hunter with another player, change character and join that player back. but how would i return to orbit and launch the task again with the fireteam?

so they would each have to type the /join thing after i change characters? when i played with someone doing this i didnt have to type this when they changed character.
if the other person i loading in with originaly was the leader when they join me are they able to bring the fireteam with them?

yes, you can bring the whole fireteam with you if you're leader
to make it easier you can just add the checkpoint person as a friend and join them without needing the /join command
