Ive done sunless cell multiple times with the quest and have changed my light at orb thing eris's flat anyone know what im doing wrong?

That quest gives the catalysts not the intrinsic

Whoops your right however it still wont give the catalyst even though I have the quest?

I also only use the dyad the entire time for safety

does the quest tell you to use specific weapon types? (scouts, lmgs etc)

if yes you can only have those types of weapons equipped while also having barrow dyad equipped

I was wandering the same thing but cannot find a full auto/smg for a secondary

yes of course there are auto rifles/smgs in the energy slot

I changed weapons to specifics required by the quest (eg barrow dryad, glaive, sword only) just before finishing off final boss and it still worked
