Which stats should i look for in each character?

I know they are different for each class, but i dont quite know what to look for.

for pve its always resilience recovery discipline/strength (depending on melee or grenade focused build)

Should i change anything for pvp?

Generally, recovery is the first thing you should max, then have atleast 7 resilience. If you are hunter they generally put it into mobility but if you are warlock or titan you can choose whatever after recovery and resilence
