whats the best way to get high stat armor? Im a returning player and havent played in years

do the campaign and all the weekly things for exotics and regular nightfalls. should get over 2000 fairly quick that way

High stat armor is usually seasonal armor. If you played last season/episode and have some engrams saved up

Use those

I would suggest waiting to farm for it though becuase the armor set bonuses that they implemented this season could make old armor pretty useless.

Also i think they’re revamping how stats work in a couple months

do pale heart engrams work? I just started this season for the first time in a couple years @finite delta

I dont think so. If you buy the deluxe edition of the latest dlc you should be able to play the previous season’s content

Pale heart engrams could work tho, idk.

If you open em and you get mostly 50’s and 60’s you’re on the right track

I would also add Pit of Heresy when that becomes weekly. Farming the final boss gives good armor. But much like what others have said, armor is getting reworked so your mileage may vary.
