If you mean the chest in the trip mine room that's not the first chest, it's the second, also that button over there and the panels close to it are used to focus a piece of loot from the dungeon
To access that focusing you gotta do some of the triumphs, I don't know which ones but you'll likely have to do all the puzzles for the quest+some extra

if you go close to it, you can interact with it.
i don't remember exactly what the interact prompt says, but iirc it was to activate something
