ik liars handshake build is probably the best and is decent for endgame content but im getting kinda tired of it. would like something with a different flavor and has some range to it

is the strand whirling maelstrom any good? i think i remember it being decent when it came out? did it get nerfed?
seems pretty alright for pve except maybe master/grandmaster stuff where the damage might not be enough?

Not really. Its pretty standalone. Good for a smal amount of passive dmg

would u say ascension is better than whirling maelstrom?
im just looking for more viable builds in all content to mix things up from the melee build
is the damage really low/fall off hard in master+ content? never really used strand for any class much before

if you're using Gifted Conviction then i'd say so because ascension will apply jolt while maelstrom is just flat damage
plus conviction gives you damage resist when you jolt stuff

i also prefer using Conviction on just pure Arc instead of Prismatic because of that one aspect that gives you increase dodge regen when you're amplified (i think it's flow state)
so you can legit do an Ascension like every five seconds if you're built that way

unless they changed it from when it was released then no it consumes your class ability
if they changed it then maybe but thats how it was when final shape dropped

ok quick dumb question kinda relating to foetracer, what is the difference between surge and overcharge
surge is a x% damage modifier to weapons of that class right? usually obtained by picking up orbs of power + armor mods?
but then theres also the overcharged armory perk on the artifact which idk what overcharge does
and i remember reading a few months ago how bungie removed or changed something with overcharge/surge and it made contents like dungeons much harder?

The change was that they made it so you were always -5 power against enemies in raids, instead of 30+ above, and compensated by adding surges
Then they removed surges and brought every weapon up like they had surges
Problem is that the damage difference from +30 to -5 is bigger than the damage gain from surges regardless, hence why people said raids will be harder
