I turn my pc on and startup destiny, play for an hour or two and then crazy input lag starts happening

I try to restart my game and it gets worse. I have tried switching to fullscreen and that gets rid of some of the input lag but then my fps drops from 250-300 down to 30 every 5 seconds.
