It definitely takes more knowledge of ammo mechanics to make it work as well as it used to. And the bonus heavy drop rate from running it has also been removed

#

Its still viable if you know how to abuse ammo drops (i.e. swapping to heavy for more special drops and vice versa, running special finisher, etc.)

imo double special only works with a trace+forbearance or if your specials have lead from gold
