I last played during beyond light and stopped just before the anniversary expansion came out. just come back now and im seeing the term Red border. what does that mean and how can i work towards it?

red boarder means you can extract part of the pattern for that weapon, if it drops with a redboarder

Some weapons are craftable, to craft them you need the pattern. When a pattern drops, it looks like it has a red border around the weapon, kinda like a masterworked weapon, but red

if you get enough of those pattern parts, you unlock that weapon for crafting, meaning you can choose the perks on it, and enhance them, too

for most of the weapons you need to get 5 redboarder versions to drop to craft them

in the season pass there is also 3 free and 6 on the payed track so called "Deepsight harmonizers" which can be used to turn a weapon that can be crafted into a redboarder version

so you can extract a pattern part from that

Only 3 weapons need less then 5, the ammit auto rifle, the taipan lfr, and the sword other half

TLDR, redboarder gives you patter progress for that weapon, and eventually you can craft it
