I have come back this season after a long break and my vault it full and I have no idea what to keep vs shard would love some help

Dismantle sunset guns, reduce duplicate weapons and you can use Light.gg as a help to explain what perks are good. I wouldn't rely on the community recommendations tho
and exotics you haven't touched for 2 seasons (or more) can also be dismantled

I have used light.gg and it's full of like a, s rank guns but I have no idea if they are any use or they are just ranked high because of the perks and such but the gun is bad

This question depends mostly on how long your break was, to be honest. If it was just a couple months, metas are "still" right now, with a slight favor towards either High Magazine or High Damage Per Bullet weapons
Anything with an AoE perk is always good. (Incandescent, Destabilizing, etc).
For PvP, stacking damage perks (Target Lock) and Rate of Fire along with things like Perpetual Motion are where it's at. (Steady Aim plus more damage the longer you stay on target)
