I wanna get witch queen, lightfall and the final shape. I get the option to buy lightfall and an annual pass edition. same with the final shape. What should i buy?

final shape and annual pass content doesn't release until February 27, 2024, which will have the main dlc at launch and 3 smaller seasons/episodes over the course of that next year.

the only things you get right now buying that are cosmetic items and access to the exotic fusion rifle tessellation.

#

witch queen will give you that dlc, with some other content like access to certain exotic missions that are on a rotator. the bulk of that year's seasonal content is not currently available.

lightfall and the annual pass gives you the main dlc from this year, plus the four seasons of content, one of which will be new and will start on nov 28th (season 23).

we have about a month left of season 22 currently, with a potential epilogue seasonal mission yet to release.

#

the majority of playable content for seasons 20 and 21 is in the game, however the season passes for those seasons are not available so you will miss out on all those cosmetic items and materials from

#

those season passes. it would not be impossible to finish this season's battle pass before the next one starts to get all of the cosmetic items on that track.

all of the lightfall seasonal content will be removed when the final shape launches. if you plan on being heavily invested in playing destiny for the next 4 months of the lightfall year and the final shape,

#

then get everything. if you only care about the most up to date stuff to get ready for the final shape and plan on playing a lot to catch up on the backlog of content,

#

get lightfall annual pass and final shape annual pass. if you just want to revisit the game for a bit then pick it back up with the final shape,

#

get the witch queen since there will be less overall content you will have to worry about playing to get your money's worth.

I'm assuming you have some of the other dlcs since you are a returning player, but there is a legacy collection that contains witch queen, beyond light,

and shadowkeep in one bundle that will give you a good amount of content that you won't have to worry about being rotated out when the year ends.

I'm not sure how much you plan on playing, what kind of content you want to play,

or if you're invested into the endgame and are worried about having the best gear in the game so recommendations might change according to that too, this is just some of the general information I can think of.

Generally, people liked the witch queen campaign far more than lightfall.

people liked the campaign more and it may have some better overall exotics depending on who you ask. lightfall will give you access to a new subclass, probably it's biggest selling point.

if you're mainly a pvp player, then much less of this applies.

You'll need lightfall to access trials of osiris, and there's little to no specific pvp content included in the dlcs or seasons outside of looking for certain guns or exotics.

When you say i get 4 seasons of content. Is that 2 previous seasons, current and next? What will i get from the 2 previous seasons?

Cuz i could just get lightfall + the current season and the next.. and save some money. or are the previous seasons worth it?

seasons 20, 21, 22, and 23 are included in the annual pass. seasons 20 and 21 are the previous seasons.

we are in season 22 and have about a month left. season 23 will start on nov 28th and lead into the final shape release.

the main thing you will be missing from the two previous seasons like I said will be the battle passes, which have various in game resources and certain cosmetics that will be unobtainable to you.

#

these are things like a full ornament set for each class, an emote, a finisher, and a weapon ornament for that season's exotic.

#

both season 20 and 21 have their playable content still active, so the seasonal story and associated missions. weapons and armor from those seasons are still available.

#

I suppose it is worth mentioning that those weapons and armor will likely be available when the final shape launches as bungie added a new system for players to acquire them even if they didn't play that season,

#

but they are a much bigger grind to acquire. as far as worth it? can be subjective but I don't think there is a must have weapon from either season that you wouldn't be able to find a replacement of somewhere else.

someone can probably correct me on that though, but as a longtime player most of the seasonal weapons this year have been pretty mediocre.

they can be good steppingstones for newer players though. you will miss out on using the exotic mission weapons from those two seasons until final shape launches, but neither are dramatically game changing either.

in final shape they will be added to the rotator and you'll be able to get them then.

#

one more thing to add is the annual pass also includes the dungeon key, which will give you access to a dungeon from season 21 and the new one launching in season 23. otherwise this is a $20 separate cost.

witch queen also has its own dungeon key for 2 dungeons that I don't think is included in any bundle. it's just that separate $20 cost.

#

so if you end up wanting the lightfall dungeons, I think it's still more cost effective to get the annual pass.

if you don't care about the dungeons or previous passes then yeah you could skip them and just get regular lightfall and buy the more current seasons

dungeons are the step between a raid and a strike/nightfall. 3 player endgame activity that has mechanics. if you played shattered throne, pit of heresy, or prophecy before leaving, those are dungeons

yeah, the trade off of having to do the separate purchase means we get 2 a year now. but it is a separate purchase with silver if you don't get the annual pass.

but they can be completed unlimited times. seen the thought before here that you had to buy a key everytime which is not true. one time purchase.

Most of them are. I'm not a fan of spire of the watcher but usually dungeons are the most consistent good piece of content in all of destiny

personally, I think I spend the most time in dungeons since you can only have 3 people and most can be done without verbal comms and in game text chat.

some don't even need any chat if everyone is prepared. it's easier to just start a run on a whim with lfg and most can be completed between 20-45 minutes. they have good loot most of the time too.

that's the best place to start as it will unlock crafting for you which is used in pretty much all aspects of the game. you'll start being able to get the actual resources for crafting after that so best to do it first.
