new player, 1768 running a void hunter build. want to do my first raid, what gear?

Want to get into raiding. What weapons should I be generally using so that I’m actually helping out and not slowing the process down lol. Gonna plan to look for a group to teach me root of nightmares

most bosses use rockets, the best one being apex predator (from a raid so your next best option would be cold comfort or hothead whichever you have)

or you can be the gjallarhorn user if you dont have a good rocket

You can use Tractor Cannon or Ghally and that's like a free pass for low DPS. Aside from boss DPS, get some good add clear stuff like Trinity Ghoul (with catalyst), Sunshot, or even Wavesplitter.

Gyrfalcons with a void weapon in particular is very strong for add clear and will work with almost any void primary

Datto also has a good youtube video called "How to do Raid DPS/damage so you won't get kicked from LFG" and it's fairly comprehensive. I recommend checking it out if you have some spare time.

Thunderlord is a safe DPS option in RON final encounter if you don't have a good rocket and someone is already running Gally/tractor

if im not mistaken 1768 is a little on the low side of RoN. You should definitly get that light level up.

In terms of raids you should start with i suggest VoG (easiest) LW (harder but could get way better weapons out of it) and then KF. Reason being these raids are set at 1600 light level.

You can target RoN first tho if you focus on getting your light level up

You can buy Ascendancy RL from the kiosk in the Tower. Not the best but if you don't have a good Explosive Light rocket it'll work in the interm

Also you could always chase down the two free chest from last wish raid for a try at Apex Predator

Farm strikes/nightfalls and get a decent rolled hot head

Anything with field prep works

Join the vex strike force discord server

Pings when that public event happens on Neomuna, it guarantees an exotic you don’t own

People usually just carry others through it

Do those till you get like nighthawk Stareaters fyreflacons or Orpheus rigs

Make builds with those four exotics cuz those are the most notable hunter ones

In reality you really just need a hothead, sunshot, and a riptide with chill clip

Also power up a bit

It's not an apex but it has great perks great stats and a great frame

And it's very easy to get a good roll on it

Just play a few nightfalls and because the perk pool isn't insanely huge you'll likely get one of the good rolls
