Xur is a pretty good way as well if you have legendary shards.

I'm not sure if F2P can do this, but the Vex Strike Force public event on Neomuna will drop an exotic armor piece 100% of the time

There's also GM nightfalls, but sometimes those are locked behind DLC. This week they are not
