#can anyone tell how you guys decide a weapon is bad ? based on weapon frame, stats, etc
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
go on light. gg and look up your weapon, its usually a good place to start to learn what talents are good. it shows you the most used rolls by other players. if a weapon has a bad rating its probably bad aswell
believe they compare it to other frames in its class, how it performs its niche or role, its stat package, etc
even simple indicators such as DPS againt bosses
^ this is also good
i hear some people complaining there weapon roll is god roll and light gg rated below c tier
i do use it for how many weapons copies are present, and for what perk combos are good for given weapon,
but it does not tell if the weapon itself is bad
also my question is more focused on weapon stats and frame more then its perks
you cant tell if a weapon is good or bad by just looking at stats and frame. you have to know wich are the good frams in the game currently, by watching good players and keeping up with the patch notes etc.
the game dosent tell you that precision frame shottys are the best in pvp you just have to educate yourself pretty much
Yes
the frame and what the gun rolls is what makes it good/bad
if you want an example of a bad gun, look at the strand solstice rocket
How are the solstice weapons worse each year
When u think it can't get worse
Watch them bring a heavy sidarm
because they turned their brain off because they know their playerbase will still buy the yearly dlc and play
if you use DIM you can read the wishlisted weapons you'll pick up patterns on what is generally good
Pls don't trust any destiny Website ever on perk recommendations
It's just automatic based on how many people have that weapon with the perk in their vault
And obviously just because someone has something in their vault it doesn't mean the perk on it is good
^ the light gg grade is popularity yeah
Any Website is like that
The only that wasn't is recipes I think
And dim wishlist is partly terribly old and partly light gg copied
Re: Light.gg, it's important to check all 3 things: preferred perks, popularity, and user reviews. Also use in conjunction with DIM to get the full picture so you can filter bad weapons from good
Most players should use a tool, even a flawed one, to help them get the lay of the land so they can learn to make their decisions more efficiently. Eventually you will not need them. Walk before run.
FYI, DIM wish list comes from here:
github.com/48klocs/dim-wish-list-sources
these people are contributers:

Jarv, Ascendant Nomad, Shadow, Pijinnn, AbbyHour, GodinGaming, illPhysics, BRAVExHERO, Pattycakes, blueberries.gg, YeezyGT, @johnldixon, and WarlockMaggie for their contributions.
including speedrunner's shoping list, DMB(destinymassivebreakdowns.com),
most of contribution done by pandapaxxy
i did quit a search on who and how they made this list
i totally agree, both lightgg and DIM wishlists helped me alot including with friends i made, also coolGuy channel helped alot too for explaining perks and usecases.
the problem is if you go watch content creators videos you have to spend alot of time , focus, and end up keeping lot of weapons then you actually need.
so instead of that i wanted to know what weapons are totally bad so its easy to get rid of them as there are better options
I just activated wishlist on dim again and it looks like it's gotten pretty solid
Out of a lot weapons I quickly looked over I did not found a lot of weird suggestions the one I found was to switch to firefly for a pvp fatebringer and switching to chain reaction on autoloading explosiv wendigo
you have to check who is the person suggesting it too, i found pandapraxxy suggestion were decent and given to pretty much lot of weapons
Chevy's , YeezyGT's , etc are quit old or weird in todays norm
The process of going through multiple textual tools (not videos, they're just too long even at 1.5x playback) weeds out bad weapons
For example, if you get a new drop and DIM shows its two reload perks, shard it.
I mean you could tell that without DIM, but the tooltips on DIM provide more explanation than those in-game
If it's got 1 perk you like, check out the DIM triage reviews and/or Light.gg. They're more updated than not.
some weapons that are considered bad that i came to know over time:
180 hand cannons (precision frame),
high impact frame auto rifles, machine guns
Good perks and stats can make even a mid frame stand out
Case in point: 720rpm SMGs typically are typically preferred for PVP over PVE due to their low mag sizes, but ikelos SMG is one of the best PVE SMGs due to its perk pool
while The Title was something people chased after during guardian games, I don’t think people really even liked it that much. I definitely don’t use mine when funnelweb is right there.
A lot of it also comes down to feel and preference
high impact fusions are the highest DPS fusions in the game, but they also take so long to shoot that I’d rather use a different fusion rifle if I’m just having fun
Machine guns are good though
can you give some examples of those lmg
Commemoration, chain of command, circular logic, fixed odds, and the new ir yut mg are all very good lol
also Corrective Measure and Recurrent Impact
I know people like Qullim's Terminus as well
I crafted quillmes for the odd moment I might want a headstone lmg
the risen mg gets headstone
except fixed odds all you mentioned are adaptive not high impact frame lmg
adaptive and rapid-fire frames
not sure what your point is
that qullim is only 58k copies but still acceptable, i think anything under 20k copies and above 50% drop chance is pretty much not used just hording
didn’t think you were talking about high impact machine guns, saw the comma and thought any LMGs
ohk, mb
The fact that it is craftable and also has adept variants will affect how many people keep
if you can craft the roll you like, you tend not to keep as many rolls in your vault
but adaptive lmgs are def more popular
its about how many people keep the weapon not how many dups
it says 58k copies
does that not count more than one roll in someone’s vault
raid weps are also maybe a bit less acquired than weps from other activities
you’d have to dig deep into the metrics to look at them meaningfully
metrics are cringe tbh, just use something that makes big number
There are only 7 non-sunset high-impact frames in the game, and 6 currently acquirable
hammerhead best mg
they have learn more option that explains bit detail, i am now confused if its copies of every person including dups
but its often from inventory and not vault unless granted acceess
its not that you have to also look for fire rate too, if bit fast fire rate and less impact but does more dmg in given time then the high dmg one, it takes priority
then accuracy, and sound of the weapon,
i personally hate round robin sound its pain for ears imo
frame and rolls
light gg doesnt rank rolls very well ignore what it says
rolls on light gg go off of popularity not if its good
yes that is the point of the site, but it also gives expert openions (aka theory crafters) and popular perk combos too which often more useful
i am not sure to ignore or not, but i seen situation where if there is already a popular combo exists for a weapon then banshee brings close to that combo or bit acceptable ones that combo gets high priority
Somethings are just out right bad but for tje most part it's experience and preference pretty much everything is viable find what you like work out why you like ot and find what you don't and why
The argument of something being good or bad is purely people talking about there preference unless it's backed by dps numbers for boss damage
A lot of guns will get instantly put in the bad section based on lack of dmg or utility perks
Honestly just try learning what rolls are good and what frames are bad
Very few frames are just straight bad tbh most have qt least 1 viable gun even 180s are not absolutely garbage now
like ? Posterity ?
Ye and word of crota not bad
good weapon rolls are usually a reload perk with a damage perk. there are definitely exceptions tho
Knowing what perks are good and bad. Knowing which frames are good and bad, keeping up with updates and changed are all good ways to see what is good and bad
Perks info we get from dim and lightgg by reading description but it's not same with frames , those frame boost is not shown in both sites
Just read the twabs and keep up with updates
That just comes with experience like most people just right off 180 rpm hand cannons
I wish that was in dim weapons description too not just in twab
Just like how perk description is
Just get the companion app, they post updates there. Aztecross also posts videos of him reading twabs when they come out, watch those if you are too lazy to read
