how does molts work in prophecy?

ive been stuck getting one type of molt for the last encounter

motes spawn when you kill knights in dark or light spots

like on the plates or just the lighting?

where you are standing in the room, sometimes it can be kinda funky where it might look like you're standing in the dark but it's actually a light place

use the light or dark effects at the bottom of your screen to know for sure
