player 1 starts an encounter and wipes thus saving the checkpoint on that character.

#

as long as the encounter is not completed on that character they will keep it until something like a weekly reset (depends on what activity).

#

player 2 joins player 1 in said encounter, start encounter and wipe. now both players have the checkpoint saved on their respective characters until its gone.

#

(check points in things like raids and dungeons will go away on tuesday weekly reset. Something like the lightfall campaign does not go away.)

for example say if i wanted to farm the ron boss on my warlock. first i would get the checkpoint on a different character like my hunter. i would load into the encounter on my hunter first

#

then have whoever you are farming with join me on my hunter. once they join me i would change back to my warlock and join the people im doing the encounter with. this way the checkpoint will always be saved on my hunter
