My friend Ian says exotics aren't all, which I have found to be true. However, I know many builds rely on exotics, and builds are one way to better my performance!

Heart of Inmost Light, Synthoceps, Abeyant Leap, Loreley Splendor, and Hallowfire are a few good choices. Cuirass of the Falling Star is good for boss damage

Good news, I already have Synthoceps, and Heart of Inmost Light.

Heart of Inmost is really great on Void and Arc this season, and Synthos on solar is insanely powerful for solo content

Those are all armor, correct? If so, what are some weapons that would be beneficial to add to my arsenal?

Arc and Solar don't really need weapon synergy, as they're all about throwing as many grenades or as many melee hammers as possible

#

For Void I'd go with a Void weapon to take advantage of volatile rounds from grenade kills

#

Void machine guns or smgs are good

#

Hollow denial from season of haunted is great too

Currently I use a machine gun called Sweet Buisness or Crimson and Funnelweb, dependent on the gamemode I use Taipan-4fr and Palmyra-B

Sweet business pairs well with actium war rig, but that really requires you building around your primary, which isn't really a smart idea in high end pve. It's really annoying in pvp though.

Those ionic traces also aren't really needed with current seasonal mods like lightning strikes twice

#

Which you can pair with pulse nades to have infinite ionic trace generators

That's fair

One primary and one special or double specials is best

#

Sweet Business is decent this season with anti barrier and the recent explosive rounds buff

#

Probably better options but if you don't have them it's fine
