I have taipan, thunderlord, royal entry and grand overture, so wondering which is the best overall or if each is best in diff scenarios

Taipan is a decent linear, not the best
thunderlord and royal entry suck for damage (an adaptive/aggressive frame rocket will do 22.2% more dmg)
grand overture is okay, mainly good for burst

rockets are the best for dps right now, apex predator (reconstruction + bait and switch) and cold comfort (envious + bait and switch) are both very good

taipan is serviceable, but you'll either want Leviathan's Breath w/ Catalyst or a Cataclysmic (Vow Linear) with Bait and Switch to replace it
these are precision weapons, which are great for anything you can't use a rocket too reliably on or if the boss is super far away
e.g. Ghosts of the Deep final boss, which is a relatively mobile and erratic wizard, or Oryx
for rockets youll want something like Blowout (Crucible), Hothead (Vanguard), Apex Predator (Last Wish), or Cold Comfort (Ghosts of the Deep).
The reason royal entry sucks is that it's a precision frame (intrinsic tracking) so it does like 20% less dmg than the rockets i mentioned above
Rockets are pretty great for high burst dps scenarios, short encounters, and things you can't properly hit headshots on
Stuff like both of the Root of Nightmares bosses and whatnot
i think another scenario that wasn't discussed was the close range dps, in which you'll just use Legend of Acrius or The Lament.
