Just returning to destiny after 4 years any advice on what dungeons to do, or methods to get good gear. I’m about 1795 light.

Try farming for both the current season's dungeon and the rotating dungeon (spire of the watcher currently)

Both will give you pinnacle gear on the first weekly completion

Note that all dungeons but prophesy requires expansions/dungeon key in order to play them in case you don't own it

As to getting for the pinnacle cap.
‐Complete the main playslist challenges (vanguard/crucible/gambit)
-the newest raid available and the available rotating raid (garden of salvation)

-neomuna playlist activities (lightfall required)

-lost sectors
-seasonal challenges in trials or nightfalls (they give you an bonus powerful weapon)

-Lastly the seasonal activity and story

Tl;Dr do all available activities that say "Powerful gear" first, "pinnacle gear" last.
